Is this normal pad wear?

Just got my GG polisher today and the pads came in yesterday. I've done two 2' x 2' sections just to practice and my HD UNO polishing pad already looks like this. Just wondering if this is normal and if I need to worry about it getting worse. I was told the HD pads should work fine with the GG, but maybe there's a better pad. It seems that the backing plate is cutting into the pad just outside of the velcro. Thanks!

Not normal and will only get worse.

It appears either you didn't prime the pad properly(dry pad) or you're pushing too hard down on the pad...or maybe a combination of both?
 
HD polishing. It is possible I was pushing down hard, but would it go through that quick?



Also, I spoke with Ben about it, and he kindly offered to trade these old pads for the new ones that just came out. Those have a bigger velcro back so it should work much better.
