hey guys im new to this well i use a 3m compound then i use the no.7 megs polish then follow up with the megs yellow wax and of course i clay after the wash am i in the right track? and i wanted to use chemical guys products because it looks great on you tube thanks everyone oh and i use a rotory buffer for compound and im gonna start using a pc7424xp when it comes in for polish and wax thanks

Sounds like your on track to me. 3M makes really good compounds. Perfect It 3 is my fav. If your used to and are good with a rotary, I might suggest checking out more powerful polishers like a Flex, but that's just me. I just bought a PC and after years of using a rotary, the PC made me want to pull my hair out. Great machine and great results..I just can't get used to it.

thank you ya ive benn busting my butt i detail 60-100 dollors doing big dodge truck with oxidation and water spots and took me the whole day to finish the outside polish and wax ect right now i only have a rotory which i used just for compound and use hand polish and wax my pc will come in tomorrow from amazon and i cant wait to use it ill learn from this pc then ill move up later thanks bro

I think you may want to start pricing yourself alot higher.. especially since you are doing alot of work...for a dodge truck with allt hat i would start to see if you can get AT LEAST 200 for it.. but again it depends on your area and level of confidence

I would charge $60 just to do a quick detail on that size of a vehicle. Which is like a wash, wax, tires, wheels, and windows. A full size truck that you have to remove oxidation should be way more than that.

thanks guys for your help god i love thin site but any way what is a good reason for prices as in buff polish wax just the outside how do you guys charge for your detail thanks again

I shoot for $30 per hour and I'm going to raise my price to $40 next year...and I mainly work in small towns and rural areas. I know of guys in big cities getting $75. There's a system of sort to figure out what to charge. It depends on what your expenses are as to what's coming in. That sounds like common sense, but there's a lot to it. Taxes are a big one that some people forget about. A CPA told me to figure 30% for taxes all together. Being in Hawaii they may even be higher. Insurance is another must. Accidents can happen to anyone or anything. Of course the normal bills and supplies have to figured in as well. After all that is figured up, decide what you need to make at the end of the day. Add it up and that should give you a rough idea of what you need to charge.
