Is Swissvax the New Cool ?

It seems everyone is switching over to them, any reasons, flavor of the month ? ...LoL

Never tried any of their products and I don't think I ever will, but I want to know why ?

I think SV is the cooler cool. Their products, labels, descriptions etc are all just top notch classy without being ridiculous. Most anyone who uses their waxes have only positive things to say. Before the whole "But common bro, $1100 for wax!!!!!" flame war starts I just want to say that there is a market for everything and if you have the means to buy such a product that go for it because rationalizing price vs. performance is ridiculous.

There is a newer and funkier line available.

It is similar, but the cans open from the other side, the triggers pull in from the top, not the bottom.

Man, they even copied SWISSVAX packaging but swapped the colors.

A strange name, too : XVASSIMS or something.. everything was swapped!

I saw it on 10/09, or was it 09/10? Gotta find that receipt. I always mix stuff up...

Swissvax has traditionally been a relatively "conservative" company when it comes to marketing/publicity vs the other high-end nuba mftrs.

Swissvax was a very low-key/profile company and will never "beat" the marketing prowess of other carnauba mftrs.

I started using it 6yrs ago, and I'm very proud of this brand.

The packaging is extremely up-market and classy, and by virtue of the high price of its nubas, creates that "super premium halo effect" in consumers' minds. This allows the detailer to up his/her price when using these high-end stuff.

JOhnKleven mentioned Dodo Juice.

I'm a hardcore Dodo user as well, especially Orange Crush.

While Dodo Juice is also a high-end nuba, it's packaging and graphics look too playful and kiddy to be seen as being truly high end and exotic. Nevertheless, on certain colours, Orange Crush is fantastic.

I love the Swissvax wax. I have only tried Concorso which is a great wax but with the price increases I think they are pricing themselves out of the market. Not sure how their cheaper waxes are.

I have not seen an increase in postings about Swissvax, either here or at the other detailing forums that I visit religiously. Swissvax seems to have a committed customer base, but I have not witnessed a fresh and growing interest in their products outside of their base.

They have jacked their prices significantly over the past two years, which is somewhat surprising during a recession. Clearly they believe that their loyal customers will remain committed to Swissvax, despite the price increases--and of course the higher prices support the marketing presentation that Swissvax provides the best detailing supplies that money can buy.

I do like their wheel brush.

I haven't seen many people posting about it either. I've been using their paint cleaner and concorso occasionally for ~4 years now; never had an issue with them. When my concorso runs out I probably won't buy another, since the price has gone up so much.

I have yet to try a product made by Swissvax that did not deliver. I have three of their waxes (Blau Weiss, Mirage and Insignis v1) and have a pot of Insignis v2 on the way. I have their Cleaner Fluid Professional, their brushes, Pneu and a few other things. You can ***** and moan about the price and how your $20 pot of AG HD is better value for money, and how you cannot see the difference when you look at them side by side etc.

People say their products are expensive. But look at how long they last and how little one needs. I have put countless layers of Insignis v1 on my personal vehicles, and those of my friends and the pot still looks 97% full.

Swissvax is overpriced "luxury" cannot be melted into wax. If vehicle was prepped the same, and blind test with 50/50 on full car. 1000P for example vs w/e SV wax 1000 people would not be able to tell difference. I bet if they could, they woiuld say that 1000P side was the 500 dollar wax because its much slicker. 6 months later 1000P would still be there and same 1000 people would say the same thing..

ltebow- Heh heh, dunno if I'd use FK1000P as my example, it has a rather distinctive "signature look" that is *VERY* different from the paste waxes I use.

Yeah, the only words I can find to describe it are the candy shell look of a sealant, with the glow of a carnauba, but that doesn't seem quite right. I've tried to capture it's look with a camera, with zero luck. It really needs to be seen in person to get that, "Oh, I see what you mean..." moment.

Would you be willing to sacrifice a pinky finger in a bet? Say a wax under $50 vs your most expensive on two identical cars?

Sometimes I think I can tell, but if it comes to a real bet, no way.
