Jun 19, 2011 #2 R Ron Ketcham Active member Not up on my Mazda colors palete anymore, I know that back then the solid blue was a single stage. I know that all the metallic blue shades have a clearcoat. However, it's very easy for you to find out if it is a single stage or a clear. Just take a white towel and a little polish, go to an area that is lower on the vehicle and rub some polish and see if the towel has some blue on it. If so, it's a single stage, if it doesn't, it's clearcoated. Grumpy
