Is it worth topping UPP with a carnuba??

So this is what I have on the car

1x Klasse AIO

2x UPP

2X Klasse SG

2x UPP

Should I top the UPP with some Nattys or perhaps some s100 or am I at the point of diminshing returns.

Positives and negatives?

Looks like someone had nothing else to do, LOL. According to some you've hit the point of dminshing returns after the first, second layer of UPP. I guess a carnauba will give you a warmer/deeper look, if that's what you are looking for.

I topped my trunk lid with Pinnacle Signature. I do not like how the slickness of UPP (one of the things I love about it) dissappeared.

I think UPP is one product where topping with a carnauba will actually detract from the look and feel.

DetailGirl,

What color paint are we talking about? If you have a darker color I think that topping it with Carnauba could be a good thing.

If you have a lighter color, and you already like the look of UPP, I would probably leave it as is.

I have been using EX-P on my titanium metallic paint and it leaves a very clear wet look to it. I also just got some UPP and tried it on my wifes X5, also with titanium metallic paint. Compared to EX-P, the UPP leaves more of a Carnauba glow. Again the EX-P seems to leave a real clear wet look. I hope this helps!

Cheers,

Cheers,

The color accoding to Nissan is polished titanimum.

I think tonight I am going to put s100 on one door, nattys on another and look at it in the morning and see what I think. Or I could just put another coat of UPP on heheheh. Less than 30 mins can do the whole car with the PC and buff off by hand.

DetailGirl,

Any pics of your car?

To test out different product combo's, I have always used the hood, usually split down the middle.

From what I have seen using UPP on lighter colors, I would just keep adding layers of the UPP and enjoy the ease of use!

Cheers,

I think the look of my car improved after the addition of #16 x2 on top of the AIO + UPP x2. The slickness did lessen a bit, but I know I'll have adequate protection through the winter, even though I'll probably wax it again over winter break (Dec. 22 - Jan 24).

I just finished the whole process yesterday. Here's a pic:

AIO + UPPx2 + #16 x2

Did the SG take some slickness away from the first 2 layers of UPP?

Personally, I would not top with wax. I really love the slickness, and every time I am tempted to put wax on, I just slap another coat of UPP on instead. :)

Very nice! If I get a chance I will snap a few pics tomorrow as it will be dark by the time I get home tonight

Same here. I *may* top the 2 layers of UPP on my car with #16, then again, I may not. UPP looks really good on its own.

I really love UPP, but it does lose its slickness quickly. So Ive now decided to put on UPP, wait a week or so, then top with Natty's or #16 as its slickness wears off. I can't resist doing something to the paint every week.

Although it's raining/snowing now so this is just theoretical.

I am the same way I cant go more than 2 weeks with putting on a LSP.

In the summer I put Paste Glaz on one-third of my car every weekend. That way every three weeks the entire car would get a new coat of wax. And instead of waxing a small area at a time and then removing, I would just do the whole third and then remove.

1/3 = driver's side

1/3 = pass. side

1/3 = horizontal surfaces

This only added 10 minutes MAX to the washing procedure so I had no problems with the little extra time it took.

My neighbors would see me out with a jar of wax every weekend. The looks I got were priceless! "Is he waxing that car AGAIN???" :D

My first coat of UPP lost quite a bit of slickness after ten days, being nearly equal to the slickness of Signature, #16, or Natty's.

Unfortunately UPP does seem to lose it's slickness rather quickly, so I wouldn't let the slickness factor play too big of a role in deciding whether to top with a carnauba.

Like others have said, color will play a role in this. UPP really does look good on it's own, but don't be afraid to experiment.
