Is HD uno a REAL 3-1 polish?

Hello,

I did 3 cars so far with HD uno, 1x on an orange pad and 2x on a white pad.. not impress at all.

All 3 cars had holograms left by UNO, look wasnt as good as other polish IMO and removal was hard if you don't remove it As soon after you polished the panel.

And then.. I see the new HD website.. UNO is used as a compound.. so what is a lie about this super amazing 3-1 polish !? Because if it was, why is there now 3 polish in the range instead of just one?

However, if it's a compound, I would have to agree it's a great compound, dust less which is a big plus.

Pretty bold statement to say its a lie. I might would question one's use of a product before I called it a lie. I've finished out with UNO just fine, both on rotary and PC.

I can also make holograms with any polish or pad you give me.

I to have just started using HD Uno and i am not having the issues you described. HD uno is very pad dependant and speed is very key to how this product reacts ive noticed even on my gg6 i never go above 3-4 on the dial when using a medium cutting pad. IT is not a 1 step cut and polish wich i think you are under the impression of . Ive had great results with a medium cutting (uber)pad and then go over it with it UNO one more time with a finishing pad at a lower RPM. I would recommend trying it this way.

UNO is very pad, speed and quantity dependent. If you go up to the 3D/HD Car Care Thread and do a little searching you will find some good discussions of how to best use UNO.

The only real problem I've had with UNO is the very fine, powdery dust. I've tried using less but it doesn't seem to help. Satisfied with the cut and gloss it gives using it via DA. Haven't used it with a rotary so I can't comment on that aspect.

dont blame the product. Hey I'm not a 3D fan but dont blame the product, blame yourself first then the pads then the machine in that order

so much of bad or average results are human error.

HD like system one, xpert, csi ceram x etc can be used with any pad and for the entire process, no matter how many steps

nothing is completely dustless

at a gues if it truly is hard to remove the product residue then that could be due to the solvents in it

wizards mystic cut is one thats a little sticky thus difficult to remove and it has some horrible solvents and oils in it. thats why water based is a better choice.

There are far many users that like the product compared to the dislikes. Something is wrong if you have problems.

Iguess it's like Meguiars. I'm used to the menzerna ways and don't like Meguiars.

BTW, I'm sorry if I blamed the product, I'm just trying to understand how to achieve a good result with UNO because so far, the 3 times I used UNO..I had to redo my pass with anothe rpolish to remove the nasty buffer trail/hologram left on the car.

You HAVE to be using it wrong man.. Ive been using uno on my car, as well as others, and have had ZERO problems with holograms. It sounds like you are working too fast, and not using enough product.

I will normally do 3-4 drops, between the size of a dime and a nickel, on a primed pad, working in sections. 1-2 passes on a 5-6 speed, and back it down to a 3-4 speed, do another 2-3 passes, and then inspect. Ive had no problem using that method, and adjusting it accordingly.

Heres a solid before/after. My own personal car, delivered with a few light scratches...

thats one step, white LC CCS pad.

As far as I know, the reason for 2 polishes now is because we were wining about UNO not finishing down perfect on FLAT BLACK PAINT So Tunch decided to make a 2 part system, this way you can cut with UNO very hard, and finish down perfect on ANY paint with HD POLISH.

Also the technology is different, and now UNO will wipe off even with full sun hitting on black car. The good news is that just like before, on other colors you can use UNO as 3 in 1 polish, just use different pads.

Now, as far as HD POLISH, I'll say that it is the easiest, best looking finishing polish available.

the key I think with all polishing is slowing your speeds down and jewelling, even with the first step

no matter whether I'm using a rotary, dynabrade head on the rotary, the dynabrade 3 inch palm sized pneumatic rotary and orbital machine or the 57126 14mm orbit throw 3 inch polisher, I always slow down

rotary - no more than 1200 or 1300 then down by 200 rpm at a time slowly back to 900 then all the way back to 600 for a great finish

dynabrade 61375 - speed six with alot of pressure for a while then I back off the pressure and switch to 5

then 4.5 a little later and after that I compressed air clean the microfibre pad, spray on some 80% diluted Xpert Ultra polish or high tech on the paint and jewel at speed 4 then 3 1/2 and the gloss is there and no issues

same goes for the 900 watt kestrel 8mm polisher or the makita BO6030 - top speed all the way down to 1 1/2

mega long working time of the Xpert products sure helps for jewelling. transparent the whole time too.

The stronger someone makes a polish or compound, the bigger chance for dust. sadly too many manufacturers use heavy petroleum based carriers and lubricants in their formulas and this makes for harder residue removal
