Interior plastic dye on exterior trim?

I have a black 02 Impala with gray trim/door guards going around the whole car. It's been worn over the years, especially in the front, and was thinking about dying them. I tried the stuff from TOL and didn't like it too much....hassle to use. So I was wondering if the plastic dyes they use in interior repairs would hold up on exterior trim. I have to look again but I believe a bottle of dye is around 20 bucks, then about another 40 for an airbrush.

Any input?

Sem Aerosol Bumper and Trim Paint would be the way to go. Very good quality and made just for that. Probably found at an Auto Body and Paint supply store (along with a Sem color chart). If you don't know where one is, call a few body shops and they'd be able to tell you. If the molding is in bad shape you might also need a plastic primer or adhesive promoter. They should have that also. So you'd need to mask off good, scrub with a scrub pad dipped in water, wipe off the excess while still wet, prime if needed, and then paint. Not too hard and not too expensive.

P.S. I buy mine from Superior Restoration in Sacramento if you have trouble buying locally. They have other goodies there too you might find interesting
