Interior detail....by my girlfriend!

Ok guys, it's official now. I had always wondered how much the Autopian OCD nature we all share rubbed off on our spouses and friends. Well after a few months of pointing out swirl marks, hazing, and generally horrible finishes on cars...she now notices. She is somewhat annoyed with me, because now that I got her to notice, it bothers her! (hehehe) Anyway since then we've detailed her car inside and out, and she's much happier. She liked the LGPH I have, and two weekends ago decided she wants one of her own. Later that week she's riding with a co-worker (probably before wouldn't have minded) and found herself completely disgusted with the interior of the car...next thing I know she's over there with the LGPH, 303, etc...and emailing me before/after shots! After looking at them, the befores are revolting, can you believe that car belongs to a girl!??

Oh boy, what madness have I started (with the help of you guys!)??? :dance Here are her pics...I wanted her to register and post them herself but she's never been on a forum...too bad, we definitely have a serious sausage fest here at autopia :)

here are the before and afters.. For a rookie I'm pretty impressed!

Yes, I can. I've seen that quite a number of times. I had car that after 3 years I owned it was clean (not Autopian level of clean, just clean). Then my ex wife got it as part of divorce. In 6 months in her hands it turned from clean to filthy beyond belief. Didn't come as a surprise because that's how she "maintained" the place too. Still, it's not that I was doing much before that to keep it clean. Just regular car wash and vacuum.

Tell her she did a great job.

I have got my g-friend into doing the dressing. She loves "shining" the tires and trim, etc. I also have her on the powerball on rims. She will often call me and be like "OMG at the rims on this expedition, they are horrible"

let her know that if it dosent work out between you to im looking.. :grinno:

ok ok im sorry, im just kiding but really that looks really good im sure the owner was more then impressed.. Tell her I say nice worl :p

Thats the bummer, the owner was almost indifferent to the gesture of spending that much time helping her out, or the replies. She asked the owner to make sure to keep the windows cracked or open as much as possible to let the seats/carpet dry etc, which the owner completely disregarded. Now she says the kinda smells again inside.. Bummer!

Thanks for the kind words guys, I was pretty impressed myself! It's funny that she's fallen victim to the same ailments we all share...'eww, look at that guy's car, it looks like total sh*t, so swirly' ... IS IT AN OBSESSION OR SICKNESS? Fine line ;)

VERY nice job. Those before shots were horrifying!

My boyfriend tells me all the time that I'm insane. I just respond that I'm protecting my $40k investment!

LOL. Very decent effort. Invite her over. Look what's it's done for your detailing over the past 6 months :sign

Tom I'm not sure she cares to that point yet :) But yes, autopia has been an awesome forum for improving my detailing skills...blessing or not - debateable - but now my cabinets are even more overflowing...this site makes me want to try so many products! How's that CG order coming along Tom? ;)

All I have to say is that car is disgusting..I doubt I would have even ridden in it had the opportunity presented itself...I'd be like can you get me a towel to sit on, or should I change into 'garage' clothes? LOL

Whats even more mindblowing is how unappreciative the owner was. Did I mention the owner is my g/f's assistant!? You'd think she'd be overly thankful and maybe send a card... I know I would. Totally rude. I think she was oblivious to the fact her car was disgusting in the first place.

You are right on both counts. First, she is unappreciative and rude. Second, she obviously was indifferent to how her car looks in the first place. If she wasn't she wouldn't let it become that way to start with. Her failing to follow up on advice and wasting effort invested proves it further.

On the positive side, her car was not half as bad as my ex wife's was 6 months after she took ownership over it. :rofl

Nice work! Those seats were wasted. I had a girl work for me for about 3 years. She worked circles around all the men in the shop. Her specialty was interiors. Maybe it's in their genetic makup to naturally clean? My wife must have a missing chromosome, because she can't clean her way out of a paper bag.

Sounds like you need a new boyfriend! ;)

Lightman-yes, I can believe the car is owned by a girl. As a general rule, women keep their homes clean and their cars a dump. Men are the exact opposite. Go figure.

She did an excellent job on that rolling landfill. :up
