Interested in Poorboys

Hello all I've been a lurker on this site for a while and never really posted but I am very interested in buying some Poorboys products just for use on my own car. I have a 2001 Black Explorer Sport the paint is in decent condition although it does have one fairly deep scratch down the side that I would like to get rid of. Well my question for you guys is what products should I purchase, I'm working so money is not a huge concern I just want a beautiful looking car. I will be applying everything by hand though for now.

Hi Kaiser! Welcome to DC! I recommend Poorboy's ProPolish,Polish with Carnuba,SSR1,2,2.5, EX,EX-P, Natty's and Spray & Wipe for the paint. You'll end up buying them all anyway. So do it now and be finished with it. LOL! No, I am not a salesman,owner nor a distributor of Poorboy's. I'm just a happy customer. Rick

Thank you for the help and being so welcoming rabbi. I have been reading here for a while and heard nothing but good things about Poorboy's, where would be the best place to buy their products from?

Also what would be a good order to use these products in, sorry for all the questions but I am quite an inexperienced detailer :(
 
Howdy Kaiser,

As rabbi mentioned, Poorboy has a lot of good products, all of which would work nicely. I'm sure you've been reading the forums and have an idea of what you think you already want/need.

Anyhow, on black, I would use whichever of those polishes you need to remove any oxidation, blemishes, and spider-web marks. Then I would finish up with SSR1, top with a couple light coats of EX, and then maybe top with Natty's latter.

Keep in mind................. depending on how bad that scratch is, those polishes may, or may "not" remove the scratch.

P.S......... I would also pick up some Spray & Wipe for QD'ing (especially on black), and regular maintenance.

As you have read both in this thread and elsewhere, you're off to a good start choosing products from the PoorBoy's line. Not only do the products perform as advertised, but Steve is a good guy to do business with.

In addition to the products you have listed, I can't agree more with Boss_429's suggestion of adding a bottle or three of the S&W. I count it among my must haves in the detailing kit. In addition to use on your paint, my exterior glass loves it.

As far as the best place to buy, you're in luck; there are lots of places to purchase PoorBoys products. You can purchase them directly from Steve via his website or check his list of distributors. Both PAC and AutoGeek sell them along with several others.
 
I like you am doing my own cars.
I just bought a gallon of S&W. It is truly a must have.
Once you use it you will never be without it.

Watch the forums monday or tuesday.
Dwayne at PAC may be putting some items on sale.
If some of them are on your list you can save a little$$ :D

I just got SSR2.5 and haven't tried my Natty's yet.

What I have learned in my couple of month's here is:
You can't go wrong with poorboys products.
Every one you use lives up to expectations.
There's other good stuff also, but PB is excellent stuff.

That is an excellent collection to start. I think you could forego SSR2 if you get SSR2.5 and SSR1. I would add Bold N Bright too. :)

Don't know where you're from, but another vendor is Motorcity Poorboys. They have kits already assembled (including mf's, I believe).

I don't know why people are saying get a bottle or 3 of S+W. Not even the gallon.



GET THE BIG ONE!!! Go for the 5 gal.
At worst, even if, for some strange reason, you don't like using it on your paint, you can dillute it with water and have a great glass cleaner!
I like the way it can be used even on hot glass!
 
I use BnB and S&W every day. Also PP, SSR1, SSR2.5, EX-P & Natural Look....but not daily of course. I've gone throught about 8 or 9 gallons of S&W this last 15 months.

The scratch may need to be hit by a pro with a polisher. You might go to a body shop and ask them to polish out the scratch but leave the rest of the detailing to you.
