Input on new setup.

Currently using FTG/AIO (whichever I feel like at the time) topped with FMJ on my car.

I just bought VM, Blackfire AFPP, and S100 with Sonus caranuba QD. I'm going to ditch the FTG and AIO for a bit in favor of the VM and see how it works. What I want to know is if there's a cure time needed for AFPP before topping it with S100, and if I should build up 2-3 layers of AFPP or just do one coat and go ahead with the caranuba topper.

Never tried topping a sealant with wax before, just want to clarify those things before going at it. Will the S100 look different on top of the AFPP as opposed to being by itself after VM? Want to use the Blackfire for the longetivity factor, in case I get lazy with the caranuba there will still be some protection there.

Congratulations! It seems you've used the maximum allowable abbreviatons per post!

I've been around for a little while, and I have no idea of what your talking about...

I think this might help, tho. Apply your chosen sealant. Wait for it to cure (12-24 hours?). Apply more sealant. Wait for it to cure (12-24 hours?)

Apply a good carnauba.

Stand back, Wow!

Good Luck!

I thought everyone had all the abbreviations down. I feel you though, I was confused as hell when I first started posting, took me around a week to get them all down. :D

So basically you're saying to wait a day before applying the topper. I didn't know if sealants required a curing time before being topped, that's all. And from what I've seen, the Menzerna doesn't like being topped, that's why I'm switching over to the Blackfire.

As for the Vanilla Moose, been hearing so many good things about it, I have to give it a shot.

All great products you've chosen and good advice you've been given.

Apply 2-3 coats of BF with a day in between, and then top it. Carnauba also takes a little time to setup so don't look for major differences until the next day.

I don't believe Blackfire is layerable so more than 2 coats is a waste of product, IMO. And I don't believe there is a cure time.

Since Blackfire is designed to mimic the carnauba look, topping it with a real carnauba wax may be pointless but its possible you might see a diff. I'd suggest a comparo on the hood or trunk, w and w/o S100 and judge for yourself.

Every sealant is a little different so some experimentation is required. Don't be afraid to play around to find a combo you like.

bret: That's exactly why I keep messing around with new products, to find something I really like.

I'm tiring a bit of the "sealant look", hence the S100. My car is a DD and being black, you can't avoid having a few minor swirls and scratches here and there. Sealants tend to highlight them (both Zaino and FMJ did, the former a bit more,) but I'm not opposed to using minor fillers like glazes or caranubas to hide them a bit as opposed to polishing all the time (such is why I want to top the Blackfire.) If the look doesn't differ, then by all means I'll leave the Blackfire as is without a topper.

I'll see how it turns out and report back. I may also experiment with topping the FMJ to see for myself if it works or not.

I really don't think layering is necessary myself. I'll do two coats to ensure full coverage then work from there.

What leads you to believe FMJ doesn't like to be topped? Enquiring minds want to know.

CMA's results. As said in the last post, I may try it myself to find out for sure. FMJ looks awesome by itself, really.

Thank you Cincy.....it's actually much cheaper through the site you recommended. Thank you for your help.

It's $1 cheaper. It's $20 free shipping from Pak, it's $12 + $7 shipping from the other.

oh sorry i didn't know that. I didn't follow through with the whole ordering form yet. Thank you both for the recommended sites. i'm going to look into it.
