Input on buying a new rotary

I have been trying to do my research on getting a new rotary polisher (I have had a PC for over a year now and Love it but it has its limits and I have found them) Theres just such a mass of model numbers in my brain that I can not keep them straight.

I have a few quick questions

1) Would you recomend jumping right into a $150 or so dewalt and makita or would you recomend buying a cheap o harbor freight $30 one just to start with then move up if I like it.

2) Everyone here seems to use Dewalt and Makita.... well what about Milwake and Snap on?

Im sure more questions will crop up so stay tuned and thanks in advance!

The most popular here by far is the makita. There are some faithful flex 3403 users and a few metabo fans as well. Not so many dewalt though. They are on the heavy side. Hitachi too. But those dont seem too reliable.

SO the Makita 9227C is the way to go then huh?

I may have found a really good deal on one (60 bucks new)

60 bucks new is about 110 too low. Good luck with that merchant. You can get it at coastaltool with a carry bag and a backing plate for 170 plus shipping.

Good Old Craigslist!!!

I thought the backing plate that came with the one from coastal tool had to be replaced?
