Im detailing a honda this weekend and the owner works in a printing shop. he has alot of ink stains and i dont know how to remove them .. i was advised by one guy to try some solvent but i really dont want to put solvent on someones cloth seats .. i have a full arsenol of supplies and a mytee hp 1000 extractor .. no guessing please. i need a straight answer from someone who has done it .. i advised the customer that they might not come out so i havent promised something i cant deliver .. but it would be great to remove the stains ...

Rubbing Alcohol works good on ink, but you have to be carefull not to use too much. Too much will cause the glues in the matting to breakdown. I put the alcohol on a rag and then blot the stain turning the rag to a clean spot as the ink transferes from the carpet to the rag. Don't rub it! That will just smear the ink. If there is a lot of ink it will take a lot of patients because the ink will just keep comming and you'll need many rags. Now here's my disclaimer, I've used this method on ink from a ball point pen that had broke, I imagine that ink from a printing press might be different.

Good luck

I used pet stain remover on pen ink in my home. It was the bissel stuff that has enzymes and whatnot in it. It seemed to work well, but I'm not sure what kind of ink you have there, so it may be different.

ive been using the bissel stuff in my extractor lately and i think it works better than anything else ive used . maybe ill put some in a squirt bottle and try it on a spot and see what happens

Just an idea...why don't you just ask the owner of the car what they use to remove their inks when they do clean-ups where he works? They must have cleaners that they use to clean the printing presses, hands, clothing, etc. Maybe he can get some of it for you to use on his car. He might even have some of it at home already. Most of the printing inks that are used these days are soybean based (so the ink can be removed for paper recycling and it's environmentally safe) so removal might not be too difficult if that's the type of ink that's on his interior. If he can't get any of the cleaner, I would try using regular upholstery shampoo to see what happens because I think that the ink might be water based/water soluble. I hope this helps. Please let us know the results.

when i remove pen ink, i use ardex super solve which is a solvent, but not overly strong. i have used it on cloth and vinyl without any ill affects. i would say using a harsh solvent would not be pretty, but mild should be o.k. they other day i bought a bottle of liquid oxy clean for poops and giggles and i was surpised at how well it worked on stains. just a thought.

i removed ink from a ball point pen on a cloth seat in out mitsu with diluted folex carpet spot remover for carpets worked like a charm

303 Cleaner & Spot Remover (Ink, Wine, Blood, Oil & Grease) I've yet to see a stain that it won't remove (its also the safeest product I've used) it doesn't contain any bleach, caustics, etc, etc.
