In the near future i am thinking about starting an online detailing store selling quality products that you cant buy in stores. I was wondering if you guys have any info on whats needed to make this idea succesful and do you have any idea of what kind of investment is needed??

Currently, when I look for products on line, I find some great products (anything I need), great service, low shipping costs, and frequent discounts.

What I don't see is the NEED for an additional outlet... I'm sure the volume is there, but can you penetrate...

Continue your research, but be certain of your data...

Here are a couple of links that will lead you to plenty of information and free advice about starting your own online business. It's a good idea to hook up with your local SMA counselers and plan on listening closely to their good advice. If you have any specific questions, please post them in this thread.

The most expensive investment you'll have to make is in your products. I helped my parents set up an online store for their hair salon. We went with yahoo's merchant services. There about as easy as it'll get. I built the site using their site builder program. Check it out www.privatepracticehairstudio.com

Believe me it takes time before you start getting steady hits.

And remember that most all manufacturers tell you what you have to sell their products at so don't plan on low balling everyone because you won't be allowed to.

Another one!?!?!?

What will you be doing different? Why would somebody change from who they're using now to go to you? I am not trying to bust your chops but these are questions your going to have to have good answers for.

For starters, Detailing is growing and growing and of course are population is growing and growing so that must mean more cars right? So i love Detailing and trying and expeirmenting with new products, so why not start a small bsuines?

Its gunna take crap loads of $! You have to have all your products your selling in stock, which means lots of money sitting. I have thought about a similar thing, but soon realized that its not worth it. Good luck though!

Instead of buying othere company's products. How about custom formulations? Maybe just a few products with your own buisness name on them. Just an idea. :nixweiss

I know chemical guys does custom formulations or private lableing. You just need to figure out how your gonna make your product different from others.
