Infinity G37 vs. Acura TL?

Hello guys:

I am in the market to purchase a new car for my wife and cannot decide between the G37 Coupe and TL. The TL is about $5K less, has better financing options and is more car for the money, however, the G37 Coupe has better performance and is more fun to drive, but less space. I wanted to get some opinions on these two cars to help me make the choice.

Thanks a lot

The TL is wrong wheel drive. Other than that, it's a pretty nice car. G37 definitely has nicer paint in my opinion, as far as detailing. I guess it just depends on how your wife is going to drive the car. I would say it's up to her. Ultimately, if she's happy, you're happy.

exactly. are you folks looking for a sedan or something spotry. both are nice vehicles. the g37 sedans are nice as well. i had the opportunity to test out the TL sh awd sedan and that was s work of art. great power and superior handling. was basically a sport sedan.

ive never had issues with my TL when i had it but mine was a 2004.

o would go g37 sedan if thats a option. the tl is fwd so if you opt for the tl get the sh awd. on the end though it boils down to what your wife likes and is comfortable in ad well as what you are comfortable paying.

personally, i'd opt for the TL. not to say the G is a bad car but for someone who wants to get from A to B without worrying about random crap messing up, then acura is the way to go.

my rsx has almost 100k miles on it and it still runs like a champ. and i cant speak for infiniti's dealerships, but of the three acura dealers ive been to, every single one has been a great experience. friendly people, nice waiting area and they treat me with respect. (which at the age of 23, is kind of hard to find at a luxury car company).

but like others have said, it'll come down to what your wife likes. she might not care too much about FWD vs RWD but she will about looks and feel of the car itself.

The TL is a family car while the G37 coupe is a sports car. I own an '09 G37 sedan and my previous car was an '07 Accord EX-L V6 (non-luxury TL).

I too wanted the G37 coupe until I sat in the back seat. I wouldn't put anyone I like back there. If you have kids or expect to use the back seat on a regular basis you almost have to go with the TL.

The G is crazy fun to drive. I took mine to the track and ran the 1/4 mile in 13.67 seconds at 103 mph. I have enjoyed this car more than any other.

The obvious compromise between the TL and G37 coupe is the G37 sedan. I highly recomend it.

not to get off these two cars but I've always been a sedan man and some how i wound up with a 09 accord ex-L and .i now want a sedan of some sort. putting people in the back is just blah.

You can add an all-wheel drive option to the TL and bridge the gap in price while getting the drive off of the front wheels. I would opt for the G37. I absolutely love the TL from 3 or 4 years ago but am not a big fan of the new design. The Infiniti is a great looking car.

Both of you go test drive them and make your desicion that way.

MSRP:

G37 Sedan = $33,250

G37 Coupe = $36,050

TL = $35,105

How are you getting a $5k difference between the cars? I think they should all be equally negotiable.

Why are you considering applies and oranges? If you're considering the TL, then you should be comparing it to the G37 sedan, not the coupe. I have the G37S, and it's a lot of fun.

You can get the sedan with the same option packages for $35,362 on carsdirect.com, which is a more reasonable basis of comparison with the TL you're looking at. You're getting about 50 horsepower more with the G, which more than justifies the price difference IMO.

Here's a comparison test that used both cars: Comparison Test: 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD vs. 2009 Infiniti G37 Journey The G won in this case, even though the TL was the SH-AWD.

Good luck with your purchase. Either way you're getting a great car.
