Infiniti I35 & QX4 - Hooking up mom and dad

Although my folks live in another state, they are not far from me and we see each other often. Typically our visits do not have enough time for me to detail their cars, so when I get a chance, I knock them out (the cars, not my parents ).

First up is mom's 2003 Infiniti I35. Bought new and has been driven on many long distance trips. Until recently, it was my parents' road trip machine.

PROCESS:

*Wash with Duragloss 901
*Clay with Zaino Z18
*Step #1 polish - Meguiars M105, orange Propel P2 pad, PC @ Speed 6
*Step #2 polish - Meguiars M205, green Propel P2 pad, PC @ speed 6
*LSP is Zaino Z2 Pro x 3 coats
*Final Shine with Zaino Z8
*Wheels got Zaino AIO + Z2 Pro, tires got Zaino Z16

Next up is my dad's "new" 2003 Infiniti QX4. My folks have been looking for a luxo SUV to be their new road trip machine, and the QX4 was #1 on their list. You'd think there would be plenty of decent used ones on the market, but they are amazingly hard to find. 2003 was the last year of importation of the QX4, and it was the best year for these SUV's. Made in Japan and with all the bugs worked out of them years ago, they are rock solid and very reliable. This one has ~70k miles and AWD. Putting another 100K on this thing will be no problem.

I love your signature Bret! Hahahahah....

Car's look great, I haven't seen the Propel pads mentioned in a long time! Are they still available somewhere?

Hey Bret... Nice work on the vehicles!!!:cornut:

If any of my four sons ever did that for me..... I'd probably have a stroke!!! :out: (we are a rare breed indeed!) :)

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I'm glad you like the results. My folks sure do.

I was wondering who would be the first to notice my sig

I don't know of a source of P2 pads. I bought a bunch about two years ago, sold a few to local guys, and kept the rest. I had not used them much until Bryan convinced me to use the KBM with these pads. They're a perfect combo.

Great work again Bret!

When are you going to do the crackfire writeup on big red?

You mean my comparo post on Crackfire vs. Prototype FXPSP? Yeah, got to get to that one.

I need to drive in the rain tomorrow to see how well they hold up to all that water and road grime. :driving:

I don't know that I had missed these beautiful Shine-n-Shows. I love detailing jobs on daily drivers, so thanks for sharing BretFraz! Great work there.

They look awesome! The honor you showed your parents is every bit as beautiful as the fruit of your labor.

How long did it take you to do both cars?

very nice work on both! Love those dressed tires! By the way, my mom has an I35, and my youngest brother has QX4!

Thanks. Yeah, that's Zaino Z16 on the tires. The shine is great, it doesn't sling, and it lasts longer than most tire dressings.

I appreciate your comments, thank you.

Thank you. Each car took me about 6 hours. I didn't do much interior work except for windows and a wipe down. It had probably been 3 years since I detailed the I35, and the QX4 is new to the fleet, so both needed a lot of exterior work.

Great job on the two rides. Also, a great thing to for mom and dad to show them your appretiation. One question though....when did you have the time to visit with them?:notworthy:lol
