I got a gift certificate to Advanced Automotive for Fathers's Day. With the boys' help, this is what we got out of the Meguiar's 3-Step Deep Crystal kit.

Thanks BigAl3

I chose it over the Lexus 350 because of rear seat legroom. Once the boys off to college, I'll consider the Coupe. Until then, I'll do my best to keep this looking better than new.

In your opinion, is an electric polisher necessary, or will I be able to get by doing it all by hand?

Necessary is a tough word. No, it's not necessary. You will get results that are a lot better than by hand though. Especially as the car ages some. It looks great right now though!

i think a dual action polisher should be in every detailers arsenal. you will get consistent results than your hands could ever duplicate, and not to mention the machine will not get tired like your hands will. trust me... after you use it for the first time, you'll wonder why you didn't buy one a long time ago! definitely look into getting one, and if i were in the market for a new D/A, i would get the UDM machine (offers 90% of the polishing capabilities of a good rotary without the potential hazards) DavidB just released... :up

Thanks to all for the input on the polisher.
