Inexpensive liquid wax or sealant that looks good on non-metallic paint?

Practice with paste waxes! ;)

ClearKote CMW (wet!), Collinite 845 (bright), Meg's #26 Paste (dark, rich, wet), OCW (bright, wet, balanced), OOS (sharp), Victoria Waxes from Concours (true, balanced) to Chaos (very bright but deep, wet), NXT 2.0 (dark, clear), Bilt Hamber Finis-Wax (techy, wet, bright), Mothers Reflections (natural, balanced)... the list is basically endless...

Nobody ever uses Malm's....I dunno how it'd "look on specific colors" (scare-quotes sorta intentional) but it's good stuff and it doesn't stain trim (first wax I ever used on plastic/rubber trim).

Accumulator:

Malm's??.... Do you still mail (internet) order it or how old IS your stash of Malm's?

Nope, never used it. Saw it in Popular Science Magazine ads in the late 80's, early 90's.

Back them, it seemed like THE wax to use, along with One Grand Blitz.

I used Classic Carnauba Wax then. Got a 12 ounce tin of it for $4.00 at Wal-Mart in a close-out.

VERY good stuff back then for what I paid. But I digress.....

I used Malm's on my first car before I started detailing for money. The two part system really brought back some life to the SS dark blue paint on my ten year old '85 golf.

For the money, Meg's 26 is tough to beat.

MichaelM- Hey, glad to hear I'm not the only person who's used Malm's! Yeah, I started using it back in the days of ss paint too, but it was OK on b/c too. And that polish of theirs wasn't a bad all-purpose medium abrasive IMO, one could do a lot worse; when I tried 3M Finesse-It after people here raved about it, I thought "yuck, Malm's Polish is a lot better than this [crap]!"

Lonnie- Yeah, I used Classic's stuff too! AFAIK you still have to order Malm's...I got mine back before the days of internet ordering (!) and so yeah, it's mighty old. Still seems OK though, well, the polish seems to be aging better than the wax. I got my first Cyclo through Malm's after I got tired of polishing cars by hand. Let's see....that would've been in the mid-80s right before we had the dealership (where we used Malm's wax on all the inventory).

What is this Malm's you speak of, I'm from back in the day and never heard of it? Is this an over the counter or Internet only? I've been polishing and waxing since, dare I say, the mid 60's and this is a new one on me.

They don't do a lot of promotion, so it's is often a company people haven't heard of. I used their products for a bit about 10 years ago. Pretty good results with it, and they have a very interesting money-back guarantee on their home page.

Malm's Carnauba Wax and Polish outshines anything!

Malm's is soooo old-school that in one of their brochures about how important detailing is ("Clean Cars Make Money") they even said to just wash with plain water  That was back when Jaguar was saying the same thing in their owner's manuals

Despite that, decent stuff.

Bobby G- Yeah, I grew up with Meguiar's MirrorGlaze stuff and that "signature Meguiar's smell" takes me right back to the 60s, but I never really liked their "80s-series" stuff other than M80. I tried the Malm's stuff when cars were transitioning to b/c paint and was happy with it for a good long time. Used to buy the polish and wax in gallon jugs (which sure lasted a loooong time) for the dealership, don't see the big sizes listed any more though.

Malm's has always been mail/internet order exclusively AFAIK.
