In Store Products

I know that most of the products talked about on here are sold online (Klasse,Zaino,etc.). What are some of the better products found in stores. I would like to get a good base of products to have around while waiting for shipments.

I wouldn't go out and buy a product line just to hold you off until you get a mail shipment, thats tossing cash out the window.

If you want to buy a semi complete product line in stores I would suggest 3M, Meguiars and Stoners. Turtle Wax has a quality tire dressing as well.

Depending on how much your local store stocks you should be able to get a product for just about everything within those brands.

If you search auto parts stores and auto body supply stores locally you can find many good products. Since ordering is up to the store owner/manager, there will be no consistency between stores. That is different, of course, with national or regional chain stores which all carry the same stuff pretty much.

I'd look in my phone book and map out a plan of attack, hitting all the auto parts stores ASAP. Also check out hardware stores (not the chains) and maybe even feed and tack stores like Tractor Supply. Who knows what you'll find in those places. Sometimes you'll find a few gems and sometimes nothing but garbage.

You should easily find products from Meguiar's, Mothers, Eagle One, 3M, as well as the cheap stuff.

and the local Harley shop as well....i just came back from there today to check out the prices on p21s/s100 products.....the local dealer here also had a couple meguiar's products and Plexus.

Black Magic Semi-gloss Dashboard Protectant (the citrus smelling kind, no others) At $2-$3 get it :xyxthumbs

You should be able to find the following products locally:

Stoner's: Invisible Glass, Trim Shine, Tarminator, More Shine Less Time for Tires

Lexol: Vinylex, Leather Cleaner, Leather Conditioner

S100: Polish and Carnauba Wax (go to a Harley dealer)

303 Aerospace Protectant, 303 Interior Cleaner

a genuine sheepskin mitt

The Absorber drying towel, S100 drying towel, California Water Blade

Meguiar's Gold Class car wash, Zymol car shampoo (blue bottle)

i have hit up 4 different autozones, 2 napa's, 2 Kraggen's. Costco, sears, and a wally world all have different products..so you will need to do a littel hunting. i brought a pen&pad to write all the prices down (-:

bewtween all those stores i have found everything in 1 brand or another to at least get me started. from prepping to finishing waxes....

One Note..Really Dont Forget to Check Out The Automotive Paint Supply Stores. I Have One Near By, But Have Avoided It Because It looked Old And Rundown, Big Mistake. They Carry Alot Of The Meguiars Pro Line And The 3m Professional Line. They Have Pretty Good Prices And Usually Will Take A Buck Or So Off Each Product, Plus No Shipping or Wait Time.

I agree with bjwebster--give a look in the phone book or online and see if you have a body shop supply store near you. I never thougtht about them until coming to Autopia. I found a local store I can drop by on the way home frome work. They had a nice, but small selection of Meguiars and 3M professional products. Actually, I just called them to see if they could order me some Meg's APC+--said they had it in stock!:bounce

What a bonus--just in time for two nice days of sun and temps in the 60's!!!

If you go to www.mothers.com you will find lots of good over the counter products. Read some of the descriptions, choose your products and check your local AutoZone, Advance Auto Parts, Target, Wal*Mart, etc. You can even access a dealer listing from the Mother's site. If you have a technical question, post here and Forrest will most likely help you.

Thanks for all the advice. I will most definitely look for auto paint supply stores.

Believe it or not, today I found 11.5 x 12" microfiber towels at the DOLLAR STORE. Probably not as top end as some of the others, but much better than not using microfibers at all. I plan on going back to get some more along with some degreaser and cosmetic brushes and wedges (Idea I got from another thread b4.

Once again thanks for the replys.

:up :bounce :up

just make sure they have no plastic in the ends...i bought some from HD thinking the same thing and there was burnt polyester on the end stitching.... hard as a rock!:nono :scared

Ive looked round alot of places and I'm still yet to find any 303 or Lexol stuff.

What chainstores stock em ?

And btw .. I get most o my stuff from a paint supply store, they do Megs, 3M, Farecla AND some other stuff :P

Plus they do 2oz bottles of custom mixed touchup paint, you just give em the paint code.

:P

You might try Pep Boys if you have those out there...

Yeah

I know for fact that pep boys has Lexol but not 303. I had to order it from CMA, damn them and their slow arse shipping!

You can usually find 303 at a marine dealer.

Lexol can be found at tack shops and farm supply stores.

You can also check RV / camping stores, such as Camping World for 303 products...
