Imola Red M5

I love this color. The more I worked the paint, the more the true color really came out. The car was pretty clean to start with but after polishing, it looked like a new color. Half the car was a repaint and the hood was a botched job. There were a bunch of little cirlular impressions visible under harsh lighting. Overall though it matched pretty damn good. However, I have a feeling they didnt clear coar the side skirts!

Process:

wash with opti no rinse

clay with sonus

opti compound pc spd 6 orange cutting (1-2x)

opti polish + RMG (pc spd 5) whit polishing

four star upp

Pinnacle souveran

FX 100 on wheels

TOL dressing on tires

Back to black on trim

I should print these out and leave them on a car in the parking lot at my apartment building. one of my neighbors has a sweet E34 M5 with BBS wheels that desperately needs a detail. His rubber is dull, his red paint oxidized, his wheels grimey. We've got another M5 in the lot that's kept spotless, and my two Bimmers are no slouches, but we haven't shamed him into taking better car of his car in over a year...

awesome work! Was the detail in Corona Del Mar? I also noticed you were on MacArthur...always see at least ONE exotic driving on Mac. on any given weekend day :spot

I live in CDM, but the detail itself was actually up in Manhattan Beach, which is also a pretty sweet place. In the sencond pic you can even see the the beach in the background.

I have seen a number of CGT's around, but this is the only time I have ever had my camera right next to me, so I just had to share :)

Excellent work!

I always wonder what Imola would like like done right, now I know. :2thumbs:

I was really surprised at how much the color changed. After polishing, it lightened up so much, it really reminded me of that red mercedes paint I always see on sl's. When I saved the pics for web use through pshop I think it stripped some of the color. I may try and reupload a couple in larger file size to show the original form.

Very nice work Eric, always nice to see a proper BMW detailed right :) .

BTW am I the only one that finds Imola Red to be very pink under bright light?
