I'm VERY Confused!

I think the OP was stating something smelt like a giant pile of monkey piss

I also believe the OP seems to be on your side :headbang:

Indeed. I have over 2200 posts here, and less than 200 over "there". "There" being what used to be Detail City.

I received an email notification saying I got a private message at "Autopia Forums". Obviously I thought they were referring to this forum. I clicked on the link and everything looked different. Did they change the format again?

Then I realized I wasn't logged in. I log in, and it tells me that I have less than 200 posts. WTH? I also notice that I have my old avatar.

I'm not exaggerating when I say I was VERY confused about where I was. Twilight Zone?

Then I look at the address, and realize that it is different than this one (autopia.org).

I really don't know how they can get away with this? Ridiculous.

Sadly it looks like some unnecessary attorney fees will have to be expended on this issue. What a load of BS.

autopiaforums.com and autopia-carcare.com have NOTHING to do

with the one and only true original which is autopia.org

i wished the others would change their font because it looks too familar and if one didn't know any better they would think they are all related...

Is the Detail City site still active though?

I ask because when I clicked on the OP's link, I got an IE message about 'site not found'.

Google links to Detail city don't work for me either. The site isn't blocked in the /etc/hosts file either.

Anyone else experiencing the same strange behaviour?

Same here. Can't get on their site at all.

Go here: Detail City - Auto Detailing Supplies, Car Care Products & Automotive Accessories

You will get a message saying they have closed shop. Click on the upper left hand corner where it says "Detail City Forum". When you click on that, it takes you to "Autopia Forums", which, by the way, has nearly the exact same banners that this site used to have.

Truly amazing.

You know, it's funny. I'm active on both sites (among a few others) and it truly does get confusing sometimes which forum I posted what on, but it's also interesting because this site and the other one are so totally different in terms of the atmosphere and attitudes of the members.

Both sites do have something to offer IMHO, but the branding issues are a definite problem. There has to be something done to make one site stand out from the other in order to effectively combat that.

I agree completely. I dont think autopia.org needs to do anything to change their look. It was here first. Maybe PBMA will wise up and choose not confuse people any more. I doubt it though.

As for the atmosphere of both forums, its completely different. I have never seen the owners of autopia or moderators here delete a single post from anyone that spoke badly about 3D or their products. :hail: Can't say the same for detail city/autopiaforums or autogeek forums.

Definitely doesn't sound like a trustworthy business practice and make me wonder about ordering from Autogeek in the future. What are the most honest online detailing suppliers?

Autogeek seems intent on world domination...

I used to buy Sonus products from Autopia-carcare. Still might...

Looks like Autgeek is the sole USA distributor of the CarPro brand (c*Quartz, IronX etc.) now. Detailer's Domain is liquidating CarPro apparently.

Thanks Rob,

The first link works. I get the closure message but when I click on the 'Detail City Forum', I get the usual message from IE saying it can't display the web page. Most strange, but not to worry.
