What the heck, y'know? I've read the threads, but I want to see for myself. I'm thinking it will look great... but, notice that I just used Meg's step 3 and it looked great. I think Turtle Wax would look great, if swirls are properly removed. What I want is to apply CG on October 12th, and have the car still look great on March 12th. That's CG's claim. Actually, CG's claim is that it will look great on March 12th, 2008, as long as I use CG Quick every now and then, and CG Wash. Really though, it doesn't have to do that for me to favor it; it only has to last until spring.

I like the Quick as a topper over Zaino. It leaves an extremely slick finish for a few weeks and then just give it another couple of sprays. Another thing to fool around with if you've got some extra cash. BTW - if you're into glass-based sealants, Glare is on sale at Detail King. 2 Bottles for $39 instead of one for $29.
 
LOL, it was supposed to be low 60* and drizzle today; it's bright sun and high 60*s predicted. I'd be really really sick if I waxed the car instead of driving it. Looks like CG gets pushed back a week!



I'm not "into" glass based products, but I have a quest for knowledge.

OK, I started the Miata, because it's a lot smaller and the hose water is still awfully cold.



Here's where I am so far:



1) I washed with EO car wash.



2) I dried with vac & blow, then wwmf.



3) I wiped the car down with the primer. Man, that stuff sure strips the car bare! The surface really squeaked. It's easy to use, too. WO/WO.



4) I washed again with the EO, dried w v&b/wwmf.



5) I applied the CG base coat. It goes on super easy, no pressure. The instructions say to spray it on, but when I opened the bottle there was a squeeze cap, so rather than squeeze it into a sprayer I used a new Meguiar's foam applicator. Because the paint was clean, there was a little bit of stiction but not enough to make me drop the pad.



From here, the instructions say to wait 2 to 3 hours, then wipe with a damp sponge. Then, apply the top coat.

One thing I forgot to add. Use rubber gloves when applying CG. The primer is a fairly strong solvent that will dry your hands out fast. The base coat had my hands feeling distinctly warm half an hour after applying it. I put the gloves on for the third step.



OK, I removed the base coat, with a mf towel per the instructions. There was minor streaking on the hood, that came out with moderate buffing. This is a nice look, all by itself, very shiny, wet, and reflective; very Klasse. The surface is very slick and smooth.



I then applied the top coat, again with a clean Meguiars foam pad. It has a strong isopropyl odor, and pours out thin, then thickens as it hits the base coat. The instructions say to let it sit for 2 or 3 hours then remove with a mf towel. So, I might remove it at midnight, but I'll probably remove it tomorrow morning.

how are you liking the CG so far mosca? I've only tried the CG quick and was really impressed about the shine. But it's some expensive stuff. So for now, s100 and nxt wax will do it for me.
 
CG is a good product, one of the first products that I experimented on and don't use anymore. I actually still have a full bottle of CGQ and still have one more application of the CG Pro. Good stuff just not for me, trial and error. :p

Mosca, let me know how you like this product. I'm sure you will like the results.
 
I posted a review with pics. IMO the value equation is out of whack for DIYers, but it looks good, at least for the first week. I'm leaving the car in the garage for 7 days to "cure". That"s not too hard 'coz the weather's been cold and rain/snow.
