I'm Sick.....

Its October 2. Today is my birthday and i caught a flu or cold.

If my order that i placed yesterday from autogeek comes in later today, I'll be back 100%. :chuckle:

I hate being sick. What should i do to speed up my recovery process?

sometimes a runny nose, sometimes its stuffed. light headaches, i get chills at times, and other times my body temp rises a bit. and i am feeling congested as well.

Sounds like an OTC cold medicine will help you with your symptoms if they get really unbearable. I normally just try to get as much rest as possible (which means not getting out of bed and not watching TV).

I believe that your body is heating up to try and destroy the invading virus, so I tend to let a fever run its course.

Hope you feel better soon.

Banacheq is right. I've tried all sorts of remedies, but found that a lot of sleep, OTC medicine, and lots of water is the best way to get over it.

A couple of things to try:

I always find a hot buttered rum, or a couple of them, work wonders for easing the symptoms you describe. The cold often lasts only a few days instead of many.

Another relief that works well is NyQuil, the night time version. It's very powerful and really helps me get to sleep. There's a warning on the box/bottle not to operate heavy equipment while taking Nyquil and you want to obey that to the letter.

Just a few weeks ago, I tried Nyquil, a big dose, and shortly afterwards I got this uncontrollable urge to go to Saskatchewan and operate a threshing machine. I fought the urge.

Good luck, try the rum first.

Happy Birthday buddy!

I think you'll be staying sick a little longer because you won't see your AG order until some time next week, unless you paid for expedited shipping :(

Anyway, I hope you get well soon!

Not cool... I was sicker than a dog Thursday night/Friday morning. I had the typical flu bug symptoms, vomiting, unpleasant and frequent runs to the toilet for the other end, and a sore back. Throw in that I do not have any health insurance and when I call in sick I lose all the pay for that day, and it thoroughly stinks...

Happy birthday though! It could be worse!!

It might be my imagination, but Airborne seems to help shorten the duration of a cold for me. I also start taking Echinacea and extra Vitamin C (both are also ingredients in Airborne) if I really want to try and boost up my immune system. I normally take 1000MG of Vitamin C a day.

Like I mentioned, it might be my imagination, but since I started using Echinacea and Airborne when I'm around someone who is sick or when I start feeling sick I can't remember the last nasty cold I've had. With three teenagers in the house when one of them starts hacking, coughing, or sneezing I start my routine. I also use a hand sanitizer quite a bit, and although my wife laughs at it, our oldest daughter once said, "yeah mom, but he never seems to get sick."

+1 although it seems like overloading on vitamin C seems to do the trick as well as Airborne. As soon as I feel a tickle in my throat, I start sucking on vitamin C. Probably five or six 500mg chewables a day. I rarely get sick using this procedure even when everyone else at work is really bad. If I do get sick, Dayquil during the day rocks. Nyquil isn't nearly as good for nighttime, but it makes things better. That and lots of fluids as well as healthy food. I also try to relax and not do anything physical.

Another important thing is, if people are sick around you, wash hands frequently and avoid touching your mouth, nose, face, etc after touching other stuff.

Cool. Thanks you guys. I need to run to GNC to get me some airborne. I think I have vitamin C laying around somewhere. So i'll take those.

Another thing. I woke up this morning not feeling rested because i had a bunch of phlegm or wet boogers that i blew out of my nose. My mom said its because thats the meds doing its job.

Has anyone gone to a chiropractor for relieving their flu or cold? I hear that helps with the tension.
