I hear ya'

My part of my kid's laptop for college was $350 (split between me, his mom and her mother), not to mention my share of his books, dorm deposit, etc....and he has a pretty good scholarship!

Yikes, I don't think I've ever spent that much on books at once! But, I know that feeling, I just paid off all the books I charged last year and I start school again on Sept. 29th.

My wife is a pharmacist and we had several semesters where the books were $7-800. I had a few semesters where the books were over $500 when I was getting my Master's.

What's really sad is the $3 you get when you sell em back. Has to be the worst scam ever.

They update these books every year so there won't be any buy-back.

And those are scrubs. Oh the joys of elastic waist pants.

Boy I remeber those days.....my wife finished nursing school about 18 months ago.

Is your program 2 or 4 years? Do you need a four year degree to practice nursing there? Man, the schooling seemed tough to me, it's no cakewalk. Good luck!!!

I remember those days too! But, I usually made out well selling back my books because I kept them in good condition. A couple never came out of the shrink wrap!

I was a history major and was bogged down with similar giant texts.

at least they won't scratch the paint! :D

but yeah, buying textbooks for college sucks, and it sucks even more when you can't sell them back. just be glad you aren't an engineering major where you would've spent the same amount for half the amount of books (4) and no scrubs or other pieces of equipment. :faint:

Ah...memories! Good friend of mine from high school is a nurse.

My books were always cheap in college though, Psych major, books that weren't updated much so I could buy them used, etc. My fiance really made out though, we took all the same classes so she never bought any books...she just used mine lol

Now she's got the $80,000 loan to pay off though since her pops not as nice as mine was.

Amen to that! Thank heavens for my grandparents. My grandfather, an immigrant who worked and lived the American dream told me at an early age that I could be whatever I wanted to be in life but with a college education. He said I could shovel horse poo if I wanted; but I'll do it with a college education!

Good luck Corey! When do you start??

That A&P book looks awfully familiar, o ya my sister had it :grinno: . Too bad I could have sold you hers.

I would spend around $250 a semster for books. I've learned to go to the bookstore a couple weeks early and write down the books I need for my classes. I then try to find them on half.com or eBay. You can save money, you just have to hope you keep the class or the professor doesn't change the book. This semster I spent $45 for books, and thats almost half of them. I still got a $70 math book that I'm hunting down on eBay for cheap; and the other books I can rent from the library. :xyxthumbs
