I'm so excited, I just wanted to share this with everyone. After a very long three year application/testing process, I just found out today that I have officially been accepted to the New Orleans Fire Department. Out of 200 applicants, only 17 of us will be in the very first academy to follow Hurricane Katrina.

I go to orientation on July 14th, and start school on the 24th. I can't wait to get started! :woot2:

Congrats JD..I can see you are very excited....

I am sure once you get a home station you will have those engines shining...

Just remember..be safe... and good luck at the academy....

Yes welcome to the brotherhood...

Have fun in recruit class they will beat you up good..

Congratulations!

I really admire folks in the Fire and Police services. All of that hazard for such little compensation, it takes great dedication.

Actually, I don't care for Rescue Me, and I haven't seen Backdraft until recently. I do like the movie Ladder 49 though.

I decided to be a firefighter many years ago, but couldn't act on it until I sold my businesses, which I did three years ago. The week I sold my businesses is the week I applied for the dept.

I have a lot of friends and family in the dept. already, which helped my decision also. Some of the best people I know are firefighters. :hifive: My cop buddies are cool too, but you can't tell them that. LOL. :secret
