I'm in BIG trouble

Hope you don't mind me asking.. but what can I do to restore my finish after using sandpaper? I repaired the chips of my car myself, and now I'm stuck with sandpaper marks! (the coarse, dull kind of marks..) Thanks!

Depending on how coarse of a sandpaper you used, you can remove them with something as strong as a rubbing compound to (although unlikely) something as mild as SMR.

Click here to read David B.'s article on scratch/chip repair. It should answer your question.

I read the tutorial, but I can't seem to remove it using Mother's Scratch remover and some rubbing compound.. Is it going to improve if I use some glaze?

The "glaze" will just fill it in...

Last time I fixed a key scratch with 2500 grit, I had to use a rotary with PB's SSR 3 to remove the sanding scratches and move my way down (SSR2, SSR1, PP)...

Do you have at least a PC...You're really going to need to generate some heat with your hand if you are going to get those sanding scratches out... :)

Do you know what grit paper produced the marks? 400? 1200? 2500?

That would help determine the next step.

Odds are good that you'll have clearcoat issues...

You're going to need to go thru a series of finer sandpapers and then thru a series of polishes.

Good luck.

You have to tell what grit sandpaper you used. Was it specifically made to sand auto paint? Give more inforamtion?

Thanks for the replies.. anyway I used 1200 for the sandpaper. It got worse, now my only option is to have it repainted.. now it'll be a PITA to blend the paint in, since I don't want my whole rear end panel repainted.. geez..
