and get a PC 7336 (the 6" version), probably at Lowes, which currently has it for $109. It's the lowest price I've found so far. I'm calling the Factory Service Center (it's local !) today to see if they have any reconditioned ones.

In the mean time I have a question on pads. I'm considering purchasing the pad kit from CMA, but want to know what alternatives I might have locally. Does anyone have a list, for example, that equates a 3M pad to the CMA (or Griot's) pads.

I need to do a little more research on pads, but I think it will be faster to ask here than surf through 3M's site.

Thanks in advance!

I received my PC yesterday from ohio (ebay purchase $75!)

The only pad i've found locally is the foam one that comes with the PC ($25 CAN!!) i'm sure some of the body shop supply places can get meguiars or 3M pads, but i'm not sure either what to ask for..

any part #'s or descriptions would help! who makes a velcro backing plate?

I know that both CMA & Griot's sell the backing plate separately. Since CMA doesn't ship internationally, Griot's may be the solution. I believe that Porter Cable makes the backing plate that they sell, so you may want to see if there is a PC dealer (Home Depot?) near by.

I know www.motorhead.net carries Meguiar's backing plates and all the Meguiar's pads in 6.5" and 8" sizes. I'll probably order the 6.5" velcro backing plate from MotorHead then order the set of 3 foam pads from Meguiar's for $24.95. The thing I like about MotorHead is their pricing and shipping, usually lower than any other online retailer. I've had top quality service from them, and product is always in mint condition! Plus, they take Discover card! Wake up CMA...

I was checking out Motorhead last night for some Meguiars pads, and they were 2-3 dollars higher PER PAD then ordering direct from Meguiars.com...

That's why I'm gonna order the set of 3 pads directly from Meguiar's and the plate from Motorhead. The CMA kit includes things I don't need which drives the price too high IMHO and I think Meg's pads are better anyway. So, I'll order direct or from MotorHead if I need individual pads in the future...their prices are still pretty cheap compared to Griot's etc...
