I'm a noob, but am I a autopian yet?

We got stuck on a two lane in NV for construction so I whip out some QD and a MF towel to clean some sling.

More importantly, I won't be able to wash the bugs while the car sits outside for over a week so I want to clean them before the acids etch the paint. would using a QD and MF to take them off be the best thing vs letting them sit or running through a touch less?

First, "liquify" the acid loaded bug deposits, keep them wet until they are soft and wipe off easy. Don't play the "rub-a-dub" game, have patience.

Water is the universal solvent, just take advantage of that fact.

Have a spray bottle of plain water handy, use it.

Once they are soft, then wipe them off and apply whatever quick detailer is your choice.

LET THE WATER DO THE WORK!

Your quck detailer will apply some protection, after you remove the deposits and after all, it is normally around 70% water in the carrier formula, so don't waste it, use the water, let it work.

It is really that simple, honest.

Would you suggest adding a bit of liquid soap to add lubricy?

wait...were you stuck in traffic when this happened?!? if so, there no doubt you are officially "autopian!"

and fwiw, I don't think you need any soap in your emergency spray bottle. no residue to worry about at all if it isn't present to begin with. that being said...I am one that "wastes" a few spritzes of QD when I am in the type of situation you described. IMO I just "felt" that is was somehow better than plain ol' water, but Ron might have changed my mind here :bigups

Repaving on a road that has been paved recently. Bigger worry of overspray of asphalt sealant. Either way, time to kill, stretch the legs and enjoy being outside.

I keep a bottle of ONR in the car on long trips for just such issues. "Autopian" is an attitude regardless of experience.
