If you didnt buy a pad cleaning brush...

I pre-soak with Dawn Power Dissolver, then wash by hand with Dawn and warm water. Rinse with clear water and air dry.

I don't use any tools, but I don't see why an old toothbrush wouldn't work! (As long as it's not your wifes toothbrush - she might get a little upset.:D)

Mike Phillips showed us how you can keep a pad clean on the go while polishing. Just put a cotton towel over the pad while it's still on the PC. Lightly press your hand on the pad while you turn on the PC. Keep your hand on the towel while the pad oscillates. The excess used product will transfer over to the towel. Your pad should be ready to use again afterwards. I've tried it with a MF towel also.

That's one of those: "Why didn't I think of that?!!!" I'm going to give that a try!:D

Will a plain ol toothbrush do the job? What do you use to spot clean your pads and how often while working?

You can use a toothbrush (although it just doesn't work as good) to brush the pad out while it spins to clean off all of the caked on residue.

To spot clean the pads, I like to use a terry towel wrapped around my finger. Press it into the pad with the machine on, starting at the center and working outward.

I just drop them in my left over car soap and let them soak for 5 minutes. Then I hand wash them and rinse and air dry.

NOW you tell me!

Seriously, all good feedback guys, going to try them out - but I think I should have been more specific...was actually thinking about removing any dry powder residue, I thought that brushes were designed for that task - mebee Im all Mixed up?? :out:

I think I read somewhere where a guy left his pads soaking in a bucket of snappy clean until he was ready to use them. When he was ready to use them he would take them out of the bucket, spin them dry and begin to work. Won't that mess up the velcro backing?

I've left them in the bucket with Snappy water for days (because I was too lazy to clean them.;)) and the velcro held up just fine.
Minus the "lazy", distracted by other tasks and forgotten is my excuse  but yes, I've left my pads soaking (not specifically w/Snappy Clean, but cleaners) on several occasions with no ill effects. This is also a good reason to have multiple pads.

I would rinse them before using though.
