Idle Question

Hey guys,

A friend of minetold me yesterday that he is having trouble with the idling in his 1998 Mazda RX 7. He has taken to many mechanics and someone tells him something different about the car eveytime. He met someone finally in the airport while picking up his GF that had a buddy with the same kind of car and same problem. The way that this guy fixed his problem was by adjusting the idling switch. Thats the question of the day. Where is the idling switch at on these engines. I told him that I would turn his issue over to some real car guys. :) So if there are any suggestions let me know. Thanks!

there's usually a part located near the rear of the engine (not 100% sure on rotary engines) that when the screw is adjusted the idel can be changed. This is called the Idle Air Control Valve - a chilton's manual should show it.

On many cars though, the idle is controlled by the ECU, adjusting this screw doesn't do much since the computer looks at )2 sesnors to see what the proper air/fuel ratio should be.
