I would like your suggestions...

I normally just detail my wife and I's cars. They are clean so I never really have to get down and dirty, if you know what I mean. :lol

I'm taking on my grandparents car--a Beige 2000 Honda Accord with 50k on it that's seen wax once :scared:

I am a Zaino fan, but have to think that I'm going to need something to really strip the oxidation, etc. off of the paint. Does Klasse, Poor Boys, etc--anyone---make a good "stripper," if you will?

I'll wash with Dawn, use this "stripper" then some swirl remover from 3M and then head to Zaino Products.

Also, what do you guys use to clean floor mats---in terms of a cleaner? I will likely power wash them and let them dry, but I'm curious what you use to agitate the dirt with. Finally, what would you suggest to remove tar?

Thanks!

Haven't used Klasse personally, but from the MANY threads about the AIO, it seems like it works exceptionally well on oxidation. I haven't used Zaino either (Why am I even posting??? ;) ) but I would wonder if Zaino would bond to Klasse. Maybe you could e-mail Sal Zaino and find out. There is a new polish from Zaino's called Z-PC that's supposed to be good for oxidation/swirls. Maybe you'd be able to combine the "stripping" and swirl removal steps with this one product. (Again-haven't tried it. :( )

The Dawn just helps clean off any grease/oil residue on the paint. If you polish the paint well, you may not need to use Dawn.

If you want to use a polish that leaves no protection of its own, Poorboys PP works quickly on oxidation, as does WG's cleaner and Pinnacle's.

As to the floor mats, I use an "iron" shaped brush and scrub with an APC, then rinse. I usually apply some sort of dressing *lightly* and then buff off as much as I can. You don't want your feet to be sliding around when you're driving!

As to the tar, clay may work, as do most older bug and tar removers (high solvent content). I don't typically have much of a problem with tar, so my old can is lasting quite well! :D

Hope this helps!

I have a had great results with AIO on oxidisation, one off the best chemical cleaners out there IMO. Not a Zaino user but am sure some people had used it as a base in the past?

(Rubber) floor matts again a good APC or interior cleaner and scrub, liberally spary on some Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care, or 1Z Vinyl-Rubber Care and Protectant "Tiefenpfleger", wipe off the excess and allow to air dry.

Tar- Autoglym Tar and Adhesive Remover.
