Maybe I am asking to much, but here we dont have so many products and knowlegde about this, so I want to know more. I place a chart in another post. But I think is going to be easier in this way.



Please help me with this.



Condition of the Car : Used Car (Good Condition)



Process



Wash: Meguiars shampoo, (Apply with foam and take off with absorber.



Detailing: Clay bar and wash the car again (Meguiars Clay)



Detailing 2: Medallion Paint Clenaner (Apply Foam pad, Take off microfiber)



Polishing: Scrath X (Meguiars)



Polishing and Sealant : Meguiars Paint Protection (Apply Foam Pad, Take off Microfiber)



Wax: Carnauba Wax Mothers (Apply foam pad, take off microfiber)



This process is twice a year



Just Wax Every two months



Wash : Twice a week

I already review the articles, they are great. But what I want to know is what people are doing and wich combos they are using to understand the products and test them myself
 
Well, that's what the other 11,000 threads discuss. :lol There are a hundred different ways to do it. Other than the fact that you really need to wax at least every 12 weeks based on the products you are using, your system seems to be fine. You don't necessarily need to polish your car with ScratchX every 3 months, but you really need to wax at least 4 or 5 times a year if you are interested in protecting your car. Wax doesn't last 6 months. It usually doesn't last 6 weeks. Waxing 6 or 7 times a year would be the bare minimum that I would suggest to anyone.
 
Jngr, I think he mentions waxing the car once every two months.... but I agree, doing a search, reading the Autopia Guide and forum articles will answer a lot of your questions.....including your ones about which processes and products most of us use.



Alexaris, I think the schedule you've outlined is a good start. Keep in mind that there will be a lot of factors that will affect the longevity of your protectant as well as the condition of your car. I would start out with your schedule and make adjustments as you see fit. For example, after detailing your car for a while, you may notice a need to remove scratches more often or hopefully less often. Or perhaps you'll realize that your car will benefit from a monthly wax session instead of once very two months.



As another example, I used to clay my cars once a year at most, but ever since I was put in charge of detailing my sister's white car, I find that claying a bit more often would be beneficial. With white, you can easily see embedded contaminants that you otherwise cannot feel...and I find that after 4-6 months, they start re-appearing.



As the former signature sheriff said, there are a hundred different ways to go about keeping your car in showroom condition, but here's a rough outline of what I do:



Wash: Once a month (Z-7)

QD: Every few days (QS, OGSO, Z-6)

Wax/Seal: Every few months (Platinum, Zaino, P21S/Mothers Sealer-Glaze, EX)

Clay: Every 4 months (ClayMagic)

Polish/Compound: I keep this to a minimum and only specific areas (P21S GEPC, 3M SMR, 3M FI-II, 3M FCRC). One of my cars is two years old and it's only been polished once with AIO.



Now this is just for the paint...there are countless other things I do for other parts of the car.....
 
Doh! You're right. I saw the twice a year comment and I missed the rest of it. My bad. :up Twice a month sounds more Autopian. :)
 
Thanks for the info guys, Im really learnig a lot from you, in fact in three weeks Im going to take pictures of the whole process and products. As you say Im going to plan a trip to Texas in a month or so and Im going to buy better products. I think Im going to look for Zaino, AIO Klasse and p21s. Do you know if they sell them at Autozone or Pepboyz. Or someone know a place in Mcallen or Laredo Texas (It is a two hour trip)

You're looking at mail order for all three of those. I hear a few German car dealerships (MB, BMW) sell Klasse, but that has been unconfirmed by me personally up here in Canada, at least in all the dealerships I have asked.
 
Although P21S is only available online, its twin S100 is available at lots and lots of motorcycle shops, especially Harley-Davidson. Automotive shops like Autozone & PepBoys typically carry lots of the Mothers products, many of which get good reviews here.

;) ...because sponges are the enemy! Some people love natural sea sponges but the jury's still out on this...



Also, the use of Medallion Cleaner is actually a polishing step, not an actual "cleaning" step, because Meguiar's loves to name its abrasives cleaners. I would switch the stages of scratch removal and using the Medallion Cleaner as well.
