I have narrowed down the selection of new tires for my vehicle to two choices:



BF Goodrich Traction T/A

Continental ContiExtreme Contact

I have selected these two based on price and the fact that I am looking for all-season tires with a slight edge on performance.



I would like to know if any members have experience with either of the two tire models that I have listed. I am looking for both positive and negative experiences. Please note that I am NOT looking for alternative suggestions or why I should select something else not listed. I have made up my mind on what I would like to potentially purchase, but I would like some experiences to add further consideration in helping me decide what one to ultimately purchase.



I am looking for experiences that other Autopians have had with these tires in terms of performance, longevity, value, etc.
 
from experience, the continental is going to give you just a tad extra in the performance category while the BFGs are going to give you a little better tread wear. IMO, both are great all-around tires, but personally, I would go with the contiextreme contact.
 
I really like these tires if I can't fit truck tires under the Baja these are my next choice

Were the Continentals used on an Eclipse? I would like to know as the car I plan on changing tires on is also an Eclipse.
 
I've not dealt with either SPECIFIC tire mentioned, but from experience in their Light Truck/SUV tires and passenger sedan tires, the BFG's are going to be MUCH better than the Continentals. For those all-seasons I mentioned, I tend to get MUCH better traction, treadwear, and the physical appearance is to me more appealing with the BFGs over the Conti's.



I'd get the BFGs personally.
 
I have the BFG Traction T/A's on my 2002 Focus ZX5. They have been on for 20000 miles now and they show very little treadwear. they have excellent traction in the DRY and are extremely good in the WET. I would recommend and use this tire again. On the Continental side I just replaced the Conti-SUV tires that came on my new 2004 Mazda Tribute. Not real happy with them. I just put on a set of Yokohama Geolander G051's and they are great tires. Big difference from the Conti's in ride, comfort, wet/dry traction and snow traction.

You can compare them at Tirerack.com They have lots of user reviews on many brands of tires. I believe you can also type in your tire size, then sort by highest rated tire.
 
When I bought my 525i a year ago, it came with Continental ContiExtreme tires. I am getting ready to replace them, and I can't wait.



They handle pretty good, but the road noise is terrible. At 30 mph and slower, they are the loudest tires I have ever had (in 30 years of driving). If I had more discretionary income, I would have gotten rid of these tires months ago.:down

TireRack is great. I have been buying from them now for over 10 years and use their rating systems to buy most of my tires. the BFG Traction TA was highly rated by them along with the Yokohama Geolander tires that I got recently for my tribute. I have been using their installers to drop ship tires to mount for many years. I have one about 4 miles from my house and I have known the guy since 1986 so it works out great for me with TireRack.
