I would be all over this in a heart beat ........

Looks like a very inexpensive way for someone to get into the business with a really nice starting package. Could be a good way to expand a business as well!

For $5k that is one heck of a deal...I would take the rig and all his detailing tools for that price! Wonder if anyone will bite on this deal!

First you need to determine how old the equipment is and depreciate it! Appears to be in good shape. 10 years = 150 names and addresses? What was he doing for the other 9 years in business? Very good marketing material!

I don’t think $5k is a steal at all.

A detailer I used to work for and is now a friend of mine bought one of our competitors for $30k. The package included the remainder of the lease on the shop (2 bays, 2 bathrooms, waiting area, lobby and offices, basement to wash, parking lot), the entire list of customers, all supplies and equipment (including a gas powered carpet extractor worth $3,000 alone). Pretty much everything except for the name of the business.

Turns out it was a great investment for him, and he ended up buying the building the shop was in once the lease ran out. I think $5,000 is alright.

Of course you dont - we already know you're operating the best one on this site :secret

I think it’s only a fair price but not anything more. I have watched several detailers come down to this price and lower, with much more.

I dont know if I would want to purchase from this detailer then with a lower price than 5k, obviously they did something wrong. I may take their equipment...but not their business name.

Be cautious when purchasing “used equipment!

Is the equipment your purchasing 1st or 2nd hand used?

Do they have purchase invoices? Was it stolen?

Is the warranty transferable?

Was the equipment maintained?

Sometimes it works out but most of the time you get what you pay for.

Because of Katrina fairly new generators can be purchased for a good price!

Nice website, not so fond of his choice product for his express wax- "A generous coat of Dupont with Teflon Spray Wax" since it continues the myth that Teflon® is beneficial to the waxing process.

Prices seem inline with the Dallas area, although SUV prices are a bit low-a new owner would probably need to raise them because only $30 more going from a car to a Suburban isn't enough, IMO. Equipment looks like it is good shape and you seem to get all the waxes, polishes, etc you need to get going. Option to lease the truck he uses too.

I don't see an offer to train though nor an indication he'd take you around to his regular customers to let them know he sold his business and he has full confidence the new owner will be able to take care of those customers adequately. Without that, I'm not sure how helpful the customer list would be. :nixweiss

I would contact those country clubs and ask for his business. After all, he is going out of business and his customers are open season.
