Someone decided they wanted my Civic more than I did. Took it right off the street in the whee hours of the night....

The funny thing, they stole my daily driver 92 honda civic with plenty of rust, and left the 2001 honda civic sitting there.

More later...

gotta fly.....

sorry to hear that. my friend got his del sol stolen two nights ago and he had just gotten an engine swap. he's kinda mad and sad and suicidal to say the least.

The irony is that the older Civic was probably an easier 'grab' than the newer one. Thieves have taken a noticeable liking to older model cars now that vehicle security has become a priority for manufacturers over the past few years. It might also give a clue to the type of thief. Sounds like it was an opportunist looking for a joyride (kids probably), they'll probably dump it in some backstreet and the police will look you up as the registered owner.

That or parts, older cars are worth much, much more in little pieces. That makes them easier to get rid of, as opposed to newer cars which you want to sell whole (to Russia, usually). Most likely, its just kids going for a joyride, but if not you might want to start looking for another one.

Great parts car...unfortunately. I had my Accord broken into once and an attempt a few years later. Early 90's Hondas are like crack cocaine to car thieves. :nixweiss

Ok, I am back. I am in the process of moving and staying with the Mom In Law for the time being-with limited Internet access.

So, basically, the Minneapolis police said the exact same thing everyone on here is saying...joyride or parts. They said if it is parts, it will turn up gutted in an alley somewhere in da' hood in the next 3-4 weeks. If its a joy ride, sadly, it would have turned up by now. They said its usually recovered after about 48 hours. The funny thing is, on the way to work today, I was looking around the surounding neighborhoods and there were about 1M nicer Civics than mine just sitting there. Who knows!?!

The worst part of the whole thing is that I had my golf clubs, 2 pairs of K2 Rollarblades, and all of my kickboxing gear in the trunk. :(

I am $750 in to it in deductibles alone ($250 for auto insurance and $500 for home owners-which covers all my personal stuff inside). HOPEFULLY I will get SOME money from insurance.

I have looked around at a few new Civics and 626's at this point...I found a KILLER '95 Civic EX fully loaded with 60k original miles....who knows, something good could come out of this!

I'd kill if someone stole my car with my K2s in them, especially after changing out the stock wheels and bearings with Hyper Hockey Pro 250s and BSB Titanium ABEC7 bearings.

Thanks everybody....!

One pair was going to a buddy of mine who has never skated before...they are 2001 K2's (I forget which model) but they did have upgraded bearings-I decided to buy new ones instead of re....and the other pair was 2005 EXO 2.0 which I had worn 1 freakin time!!!!!!

I am still out here....again, in a transition move right now so I have limited internet access......

Just a quick post...

I GOT MY CAR BACK!!!!!!! I got a call Friday night from the MPD saying they recovered my car and I could come down and take a look. Well, to say the least, I wasn't too excited to see what was gone from it and what had happened to it....BUT TO MY SUPRISE....!!!!! They broke the iginition and door lock (duh), stole my skates (both pairs), BUT LEFT THE CAR IN 1 PIECE, my golf clubs were still in the trunk, along with my kickboxing gear.

There are a few other things missing, but all in all, its good to be backk and not out thousands!!!!!

Gotta fly!

ABEC7s?

That's some fast skates. :) I also rollerblade, it's great exercise...supposedly works 7 more leg muscles than running.

Congratulations Dale! That's great news. :xyxthumbs

Yeah, I wasn't too attached to those rollarblades because I had only used them once and probably only had purchased them a month before this went down. Lucky me, my buddy is a manager at Sportmart and he is picking me up some new skates this week at about 30 or 40% off retail price....! Gotta love that!
