I want to try something else...

Hello,

Well, I applied the Zaino System from start to finish last month on my 1996 Black Impala SS with outstanding results; but i would like to try something different.

First for a couple of observations I made. The car was "almost" perfect when I finished the first time around: Clay Bar, Meg 83, ZPC, Z5, Z2, Z8, ZCS. If I remember correctly it went something like that. But over a months time; and yes I have been washing and drying correctly with my waffle weave towels.... yet still the swirls came back in just a months time. I was thinking of purchasing ZAIO to correct this will this but I am not sure if this will take off the ZCS and Z2, Z5 I put on? Will I have to reapply those layers? These are a few concerns I have.

In any event, I love the Zanio but i would like to try some I was reading about. Supposedly there is no depth to Zaino. Lots of clarity and shine but no wetness. I was thinking about sealing the paint with ZCS again and than a day later applying a coat of Carnuba wax atop. Possible??? What do you guys think? And if this works, which company makes an high gloss Nuba wax... I was thinking Collonite but with so many options my head is spinning. In any event this is my first attempt at really trying something different. What do you think?

How many coats of Z5 and Z2 did you apply?

I use Zaino, and in order to acheive the wetness you are looking for is to apply at least 3 to 4 coats of either Z5 or Z2, and than use Z8.

Also, if you are looking to remove the swirls and scratches you will need to apply some polish by machine. Zaino will only "masks" the swirls, they will come back as you do your daily/weekly washes.

Two coats of Z5, one coat of Z2, a few coats of Z8.... I machined everything before the Z2,Z5 steps initially. A month later I am looking for a way to correct some of these swirls that for whatever reason came back without having to reapply Z2, Z5, and ZCS all over again. If I have to re-apply all that then so be it.

The other reason for this post is becasue I am bored and want to try a new product to enhance the gloss and depth. Heres some pictures from GM Nationals right after the detail one month ago....

Now a couple pictures after ZCS a week and a half ago.....

IMO, 1 coat of Z2 is not enough. Apply a few more coats and you should acheive that gloss/wetness you are looking for.

You're going to need something abrasive if there are swirls to be removed so ZPC is the better option.

Ok, looks like its back to the rotary... then Z5, Z2, >>>>>>>

Thanks,

Dan, I used Natty's blue on my 96 BBB and I really liked the depth. I also have Z2, Z5, etc. and it's different. I don't know how to describe it as well as others here, but I liked it. Not better or worse, but different. I polished out the swirls first, so I don't know the hiding ability of Natty's. I also noticed that for whatever reason it looks better one or two days after I wax it.

Still haven't figured out whether I like the Z or the NB more on the Impala. Both are excellent.

Sorry for the non-commital answer, but you said you wanted to try something new, so there you go!

Its just that I always hear people on this site referring to the differences between Sealers and Nuba's on this site. I just figured I would try laying a "wet" nuba on top of the shiny sealer to see what it looks like.

I have other questions too which I will repost in a new thread labeled correctly (I didn't start this one properly) but basically, I have a few other cars I am looking to detail and rather than use the same stuff again I figured i would try something new on those too. Problem is, with so many options i don't know what to try next. Also, I want to try some new correction polishes. For example, I used meguiars 83 on the Impala and wasn't thrilled with it to be honest. What are most of you guys using?
