I Now Cut The Paint Now What Should I Do...

I just finished cutting the paint on my car I only did the trunk, hood and roof becuase they were oxidized, the sides are perfect.



I used Rubbing Compound to cut the paint, right after I cut I immediately layed down 2 coats of Simoniz 100% pure Carneuba wax. The other day I went to Rondex and I showed the guy my car and he said it turned out beautiful and he showed me a product by Meguiars, it was the Meguiars Polymer Sealant, so I picked it up and then put down 2 coats of that.



Now I asked the guy at Rondex if I need to put another layer of wax over top of the sealant, he said no, but other people are saying I should.



I really want the car to stay shiny like it is right now, it does sit outside but rarely ever gets driven in rain and is always stored over winters.



What should I do, do I need another coat of wax on top of the sealant?



Also when I decide to wax my car again do I wax the cut area's or do I just use polymer sealant for now on?
 
What Rubbing Compound did you use? chances are, you could probobly improve your cars shine by stepping down to a less aggressive polish after you "cut" w/ the Rubbing Compound.



Lot of people around here are fans of topping sealants with carnauba. It gives more depth and warmth which a sealant normally lacks.



#20 (the polymer sealant) will last longer than the carnauba you would put on top. You may want to reapply the carnauba a few times, before you think about re-doing the sealant. And when you wax ... do the whole car w/ whatever you use. If you want sealant with carnauba over it .... do the whole car like that.



And usually, Carnauba's go over the sealant ... because of any solvents in the sealant, the carnauba disappears under it anyway. good luck

So all I should do right now is go lay a few coats of carneuba over the sealant?
 
Well I just decided to lay down 1 coat of Carnuba Wax over the Sealant.





Will it still have sealant underneath the coat of wax?
 
Please someone answer my questions PLEASSEEEE:P, I really want to know, because it's still shiny right now and I want it to stay like that.



Also how many coats of wax should I put over the sealant?

I'd strip the whole wax/sealant, then I would do the whole car! It seems that the sides are perfect, but after you touch it with some finer polish, you'll realize, that it wasn't as good as you first thought.



Try SSR1/2, or similar to achieve a finer glossier surface. THEN you can go over it with a sealant. Or try the Klasse twins. After it, you can throw a few coats of a good carnauba. The other way around is not that good. A mirror on a layer of butter is not a stable foundation!!! While usually a sealant is more stable than a wax you lose the protection/durability advantage. Otherwise as you could read it above, a sealant can strip the wax under it, so no good results again.



So, go on Dawn/polish/finer polish/sealant ×X/wax ×X!!! As many coats as you will... but between them at least, say 10 hours. Usually 2-3 is enough.



And don't try to grow a half-born child...
 
layering carnauba wax is an ongoing debate around here. Some notice better results with multiple layers of wax, others see it as unecessary. Its all preference. As far as "shiney" goes. i personally don't think multiple layers of a carnauba topper will increase "shine" or reflectivity, but it may increase depth. Your car will not be worse off if you only put one coat on as opposed to several. One will do just fine, and any additional layers is all up to you and what your eye sees. If you car is all clean and well protected, adding another layer of carnauba is a breeze ... so feel free to play around
 
Download this Ebook and read the section on the Perfect Shine Detail. It should point you in the right direction. If I were you, I would definitely use a less aggressive polish to bring out the shine better, then use Klasse AIO to prep the surface, then use your sealant/carnauba combo, just my opinion. Well I'm new to the forum and I don't understand the abbreviated words haha. So could you write them out for me, sorry guys lol.

You can put your carnauba over the sealant, no problems. If you like how it looks with multiple layers, then go for it. It shouldn't hurt the sealant any at all.



If your car looks good *to you* don't bother redoing anything. The PI-III RC leaves a ready-to-wax finish on many paints and yours might be perfectly fine. Do a little reading before you do anything except wash/dry and add wax.
