Today, I made a purchase on shopvac. I didnt have alot of cash on hand so I bought what I could have afforded. But I keep on thinking its not powerfull enough to do anything. I will be using this for the interior carpet cleanning.
bought some oxy too.

anyway here is the spec on this shopvac.

dry/wet shopvac(couldnt find the brand name it just says shop vac)

1.5 peak horse power
170 peak air watts
4 gallon.

is this powerfull enough to do anywork? or should I return it and buy something else?

I paid $39+tax CDN.

There was another model that is 2.0hp with 215 air watts and 4 gallon tank for $59 CDN.

what do you guys think? should I return it or not/.

You should be ok for the type of stuff your using i'd like to have a 6.5hp 16 gal. Shop Vac, but i'd be paying 60 bucks for one. I'm sure for just interior, you'll be fine.

you think so? I was gonna use this vac for the cleanning of the carpet and wet/dry pick ups.

here is my plan,

saturate the oxy powder in water
scoop in on the carpet, let it saturate
then vacume out the waters. <- and this is the part im wondering, is this machine gonna do the job like it says?

Home Depot has their own line called Ridgid or something like that. Very inexpensive, I would imagine that you would be able to get something around 5 horsepower for 60-65 range. Sure it's a little bit more but it will pay off in the long run.
I have a 5 hp shopvac and it actually sucks the carpet right out from the trim holders, you have to hold the carpet down with one hand and pull the hose away with the other.

I just bought the Rigid 6.5 HP 16 gal vac.
It comes with a foam muffler and is very quiet(for a vac that is) I can talk to someone while we are standing next to it. The suction is really powerful. In fact if I use the long floor attachment I can hardly move it(I was thinking of drilling a small hole in the top to allow moving it easier)
I also bought the car detailing kit.

I got the one from HD. Its a Rigid Pro w/5hp and 5gln bucket. It works great, I must say :bigups

Having been down the underpowered vac road for many years, my thought would be to return it.
Save your money until you can afford at least a 5 hp model.
The size of the tank isn't too important to most people, but the power/suction, (or lack thereof), of the smaller units gets very frustrating.

Lowes has the blue and gray shop vacs. I have the 12gallon 5.5hp one which is about $80. I like them because the back wheels are large and only the front small wheel turn. It kind of looks like r2d2 to me when I'm dragging it around. I got it because it's stable and powerful. They make other sizes in same line. I've had about half a dozen vacs over the past 15 years and liked the one I have now the most. Others I have used tipped over easy or the wheels were useless on rough surfaces. I have a 20gallon one that was powerful but too bulky for me.
