So i have a PC7424 and it came with the Sonus pads. Well i went away for college, and i made the mistake of leaving them in the garage and now 2 are missing and the other one is all beat up. So im wanting to purchase some new pads before next week so when i bring my car home i can detail it. The products im going to be using are Merenza IP, Z-PC, Z-5, and Z-2. The Z-2 i apply by hand, so that doesnt really apply to this. So im going to need a pad to use the Merenza IP with to get some swirls and scratches out, a pad for the Z-PC to go on after the Merenza, and then something to apply the Z-5 with. What pads would help me out here the best? Ill admit that when it comes to looking for pads i have no idea what im looking at... :nixweiss

I had fairly good results with the Sonus SFX pads and Menzerna. I had pretty good paint correction using the yellow SFX pad with IP on speed 5. The SFX pads were better than the LC pads I had prior to that, but neither gave rotary-like results.

what about the Megs burgandy pad with the Merenza? Or using a 4 inch spot pad on the places where the scratches are? Will that help? Also, which pads to use with which products? Like the SFX-1 pad with the IP? or get the Burgandy pad? And the SFX-1 or SFX-2 pad with the Z-PC after the Merenza? And what about that Sonus Swirlbuster pad? Is that any good? Any help is appreciated.

well you might wanna pick up Menz. Fp after you use IP...

again always rember use the least aggressive method first....

as for the pads it more of a prefernce.....

doesnt sound like you concern with size of pads but with a pc definately get some 4", 6"/6.5"......

now brand is another thing again what works great for me might not work right same for polishes.....

okay if price is a concern but still have good quality of pads go with Patrick @ excel detail also optimum has great pads which maybe same if not simular....

Megs pads are simple because they only have three foam pads finish,polish,cutting....

Edge well there great beacuse no need for bp and no velcro on the pads and you can have for example cutting pad then flip over to a finishing pad...they have a varitey of pads

the newest on the block are LC CCS pads which so far i have heard nothing but good things....there more geared toward the harder cc also work well with menz.

again we all can make suggestions but you need to stick with one brand and find its limitaions and see if it works to your expectation if not go another route...

gl on your purchase ...

by the way look out for kits and forum discount and sometime free shipping it may not all be at the same time but look out for that it will save you money then buy one pad @ a time ...the worst would be you start your detailing and cannot finish because you needed another pad or you didnt carry enough mf towels or didnt have a fine polish to remove the haze.....
