I Need a Good Wax Job!

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
How many times have you heard this statement?

For me its countless times, when I am talking to someone about a full detail or they are looking at my cars.

Its interesting the perception of people ideas of detailing is just a good wax.

At this point in my detailing career, I reside to just agreeing, booking the business and doing my thing on the car.

Once I return the car I then tell them what I did.

Remember the old days.......

Compound and a HEAVY coat of wax.

ahhh the good old days.

I need a good wax job.

How far back are we going Mr Waster. Are the old days before or after 1978?

I could use one myself

That would be about the right time.
I graduated in 78. Made a ton of money that year detailing cars, working at a gas station, and a radio shack and an ambulance. And I still had a social life.

I was born that year... O great Waster that you are :D

I hear it all the time too, what I find equally as nerve racking is trying to explain the actual process without loosing the customers attention.

I guess thats why I stick to doing my own cars and a few friends and family. In my local area people don't have a clue and think to make their car look like mine is worth about $35-40 tops. I usually just smile when they compliment me and say thanks before I continue on my way.I don't envy you pro's that have to put up with the public on a daily basis.

I live in a very small town located in a rural farming area.
We have a population of less than 1000 so you know most people and when people see my vehicles some times they will ask what would you charge to do mine like that.
I always tell them I'm not in the detailing business They don't have a clue as to the work involved.

The portion of the car driving population that actually knows the difference between a 'good wax job' and paint polishing/correction is very small- and only a sliver of that understands a good detail vs a bad one. I always assume that the potential customers that call fit in to this category and my 'full detail' includes wash/clay/wax.

Problem solves itself by separating your detailing packages from polishing and correction.
