okay not 100% sure if this is the right section, but i figure you professionals are on your feet all day and are also seeking comfortable shoes :bigups

sorry to the admins if this is in the wrong place, please move to hottub or where ever fitting if thats the case.

well, my day job is a tire tech which means im on my feet for 10 hours at a time. running, crouching, walking, standing. you name it, im doing it. I've had a pair of new balance for about a year and they hurt the tops of my feet where they make the L. i guess theres pressure from the laces or something.

new balance 473 Trail Running Shoes is what i have.

i'd been told to get pair of redwings (shoes you sick-o's :P). but i'd like to keep the price under 70 or so. but if i get enough suggestions for redwings here ill probably bite the bullitt.

btw, i need a shoe that can let me feet breath. it gets around 95 here in the summer and up to 110 in the racks, where i spend a lot time.

thanks guys!

sorry, "bullet" - im so used to referencing the "bullitt" mustang, i just typed "bullitt" lol.

so what shoes do you guys use?

The most comfortable tennis show I've ever had was Fila. But it's hard to find a Fila that doesn't look like something a rap start would wear so I've been wearing New Balance and have been more than happy with them. Redwings are very well known for construction workers that need comfortable boots. They are very pricey though.

I've had hush puppies, clarks, and darn near every other brand, be it considered "comfortable" or not. The most comfortable shoe I have currently is my Pumas. I wear a 12.

You need a *real* pair of workboots IMO. The Redwings would be perfect for you.

We were waterproof tennis shoes, but we are moving, bending down, etc all day. When I worked warehouse jobs (on my feet *all* day), boots really saved my feet.

I have some Rockport 'Northfield' that I really like. Comfortable, last forever, all that stuff. Steel shanks but no steel toes. About 90 bucks, so a little more than you wanted to spend, but worth looking at.

Zappos.com. Huge selection and free shipping both ways if you are not satisfied with the fit or comfort send them back and order something else until you find what you like. Trying a pair of shoes on for 5 minutes in a store doesn't tell you much. Better to have a couple days at home to wear them and see how they feel.

As to brand, I like Merrell shoes. They fit me well and have a broad range of styles.

If you can get away with tennis shoes and don't "need" work boots, I suggest going to a local running shoe store and have the experts there get you a shoe that properly fits and works for your foot type. They'll analyze your foot type, watch you run and walk on a treadmill and get you the right shoe with no guess work involved. The particular store I went to actually video tapes you on the treadmill and goes over the video with you to explain exactly why they're putting you in the shoe that they are.

For the longest time I wore tennis shoes based on how they looked as long as they fit pretty well. It wasn't until I got properly fit in a pair of shoes that I realized how much of a benefit you get from them.

I'm currently wearing Brooks Addictions in a wide width. They've helped to minimized foot, ankle and knee pain I was previously getting from other shoes.

I typically wear NB 574's and replace them 2-3 times a year as I wear them out pretty quick but recently switched to a Saucony. So far it feels more comfortable, was a bit cheaper and has the mesh top sections to allow my foot to breathe.

The one thing you can do that will make any shoe better is to buy a good set of insoles. I have tried a bunch of the cheaper gel inserts and cushion soles that you find in typical drug stores, none of which felt very good for very long. In my last pair of sneaks I splurged and got a set of Sole Softec Ultra Footbeds, which aren't cheap, but they have made a great difference in comfort. I've had them now for ~8 months or so in two different pairs of sneaks and I love them. Highly recommend looking into them. For reference I'm on concrete floors about 8-10 hrs a day 6 days a week.

I've had 3 pairs of redwings. I just can't get myself to look at anything else. These shoes and boots are made specifically for stand long periods of time on hard concrete. They just work better than anything else I've ever tried for a long day's work. And they take serious abuse and have a phenominal warrenty attached to them as well. If you can spring for them I doubt you'll be dissapointed. Just make sure you tell them why you're buying them (for standing on the cement all day) and they'll make sure you pick out the right pair for your needs.

+1 on pretty much all the shoes mentioned. All are great for their intended purpose. But, I'm gonna have to give my humble approval to Red Wings!!

My choice in athletic shoes is Asics. They're the most comfortable I've worn, but everyone is going to be different.
