I need a basic in-car detailing kit

So my boss recently picked up a new car and I found a Houston-area detailer to help him out with washes and full details (MobileJay), but I need to recommend basic in-car and in-garage detailing kits for him. I'm a little out of the game, so I'm looking for recommendations.

I was thinking something along the lines of:

- Set of MF towels (type?)

- Quick Detailer (2 bottles)

- California Duster (perhaps?)

- Window cleaner (or just use the QD?)

- Interior detailer

Basically fingerprints, bird bombs, clean windows, and light dust are my main concerns here. If I don't have to hear about him using a wet-nap to clean up a bird bomb again, I'll have lower blood pressure.

Thanks all for any suggestions.

If it makes any difference, this is the new batmobile:

I'd go with a bottle of Opti-clean and some Pak-shak microfibers. It's compact and does everything you asked - windows, bird bombs, touch-ups. Not a fan of car dusters, especially in Houston with all the fall-out from the industry down south.

Thanks, that is a great suggestion. I'd love to get some PakShak, but I had some other stuff to order and put it all in with autogeek (plus they have black towels with red edging, which will match the car). I've got some Opti-Clean myself but I guess I never paid attention to the fact that it's so versatile. Excellent suggestion.

:rofl It takes all kinds I guess.... not saying those are junk towels but to me function > form every time.

Definitely, but this guy is no detailer. He needs something that he'll be happy to use.

Trust me, I've got a large bin of towels–many of which are PakShak–and I do like them, but I can't justify the shipping for a few towels. Might as well get something with my other order.

I wouldn't mind the cobra towels for what your suggesting as they won't be used extensively. Only thing is with that color I'd get all he color because for the first several washings they'll bleed a lot. Do the seats have any suede or alcantara finishes on them or are they all smooth leather?

Good to know, I'll let him know to wash any that he's using for the interior, or bring him some of my better interior towels.

The only alcantara inside is the headliner. The rest, including the dash, is black leather or carbon fiber.

Then the Opticlean could even be used on the interior. Lots of choices for the interior though - OPT leather protector, 1Z Einzett, Prima Nero, etc. Might even mix up some LM Strong (or weak) at dusting strength in a small spray bottle.

1. Optimum Optiâ„¢ - Clean Waterless Wash (general cleaning)

2. Optimum No Rinseâ„¢ (mixed to QD 1:20 strength) in a spray bottle

3. Stoners Invisible Glass (glass gleaner)

4. Zaino Z-16 Perfect Tire Gloss

5. Daytona Speed Master Wheel Brush

6. P21S Cockpit Premium interior dressing.

7. Zymol Lamb’s wool duster

8. Zaino Z-8 Grand Finale Spray Seal (paint surface ‘touch-up’ )

All liquids are in small Spray Master® Heavy Duty Spray Bottle, and a selection of 100% cotton micro fibre towels; all of the above fitted into a Griot’s Garage collapsible wash bucket
