My wife got me a rupes mini for Valentines day, pretty awesome right? Right!

Today, she outdid herself...quick little side note. I'm a huge Orioles fan, have been my entire life. I go to as many games as I can and have seen them through the worst of times and the best of times. I've often dreamed of going to spring training.....

She gave me my birthday gift early, she's taking me to Florida where we are gonna watch the Bawlmer Orioles whoop up on the Atlanta Braves for a Spring Training Game! I'm beyond stoked!

Here I am with my favorite Oriole of all time

Dan, You're not kidding man! She totally blew me away, she is just amazing. As far as The Bird goes, since I was a little boy I have loved the Oriole Bird, he always makes me laugh. For years and years I have tried to meet The Bird in person to get a picture, all my efforts had failed. He was one elusive bird. Then last summer, James (281) from Autogeek forums came to town and we went to a game. Out of no where I had a tap on my shoulder and voila, there stood The Bird in all his feathered glory. Best Game Ever!

Ron, it could be a monsoon and I'd have the time of my life. I have so many amazing memories of Orioles games with my Grampy and my pop. I'm now fortunate enough to share those same memories with my little girl. To see Spring Training is something I've always wanted to do but never thought I'd have the chance, at least not until the kids are grown and out of the house.

I love spring training games. Most of the time the stadiums are smaller and you get really good views.

What area you going to be in, I'll see if I can find some good food places for ya.

We are spending Sunday and Monday in Sarasota, along with most of Tuesday. We are driving back to Tampa after the game and spending all day Wednesday in Tampa

Berns steak house in tampa

Might be a little $$, but it is one of the 10 best steak houses in USA.

Sarasota is my neck of the woods, so tell me anything from burgers to ruebens to sushi to tourist tikis to steak, seafood, and i'll head you in right direction

My wife is worth the money for steak, I'm gonna see if I can make a reservation for us.

Burgers and Seafood would be fantastic for Sarasota

Docpeanut -

Nothing better than going to games as a kid with Dad or GrandDad !
First time my awesome Grandpa took me and my little brother to a game, I was just stunned to see and hear all these people AND eat some great food and dessert!! :) I still remember that day.. :)

Years ago in another life, I used to go almost every year to Scottsdale, AZ to the San Francisco Giants Spring Training Camp..
Loved it - like Ron said above -- smaller crowds, way closer to the players, lots of opportunities for autographs, pics, etc..
Food is always great and you cant beat the weather in AZ at that time of the year either..
I'm so glad for you guys !!!

Being a huge Braves fan I could take exception, but Happy Birthday and it's ok if the Braves lose a spring training game while you are there. Lol

A wonderful thread DocPeanut and thanks a million for sharing.
A small favour though. Could you possibly get your wife to phone my wife and tell mine that I like mantools and baseball too?
Just a thought.

Lol no kidding, right. I'm telling you, I don't know how I got so lucky

Its nice when a partner gives you a gift that they know you would love!

Instead of something they secretly want for themselves like the BF that got me a TV and came over to watch TV shows I hate!:lol2:

Docpeanut- I'm late to this party, but I too enjoyed reading about this.

Accumulatorette has given me a *lot* of my favorite Detailing tools, and also some of my best exercise equipment; nice when one's spouse gets it.
