I have sinned: I took my car to a car wash today

I must admit to someone that I did it. I feel ashamed!

My reason is that I'm going on vacation today and I haven't had a chance to wash the car this week. It was a brushless wash, the only bad part was the drying done by the 2 guys and the end of the line. At least they use new towels for each car.

Before anyone gets crazy, this was done to my daily driver. I've been meaning to go over the car with FI2 and SMR, maybe PI2, so I'm not really worried about the possible swirls and scratches. The car is already filled with bad swirling and spiderwebbing.

BTW, for a "Supreme" detail the place charges $199 for cars and $299 for SUVs! It *does* include an interior Auto-Aromatherapy though! :P

Its not a sin to take your car to a car wash.some car washes are not bad ,some are hand washes and some just scratch the hell out of your car it depends which one you went to . Sometimes you just dont have time BTW 30 HAIL MARYS

Wow. I hope it wasn't your black Acura. Can you say major swirls. None the less, you should be slapped upside the head with a wet micro fiber towel. :nono

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, find time to wash your car.

Heck no it wasn't the Acura. That think scratches if you sneeze on it!

We have a drought emergency in effect right now and I've recently been pushing my luck by washing the car a lot more than is allowed. I live on the corner of a busy residential neighborhood so everyone sees me washing my car. In fact in the neighborhood I'm known as "The guy who always washes his car with his shirt off and his dog on the hill". What a reputation I have. At least when I start to do some jobs on the side most people will know I do good work!

BTW, I did seriously contemplate washing the car last night at 11:30 PM!

If you are using the "bucket" method (wash, rinse, wipe) keep a small vial of yellow food coloring nearby. ..if the water police show up, give a quick squirt in each bucket...tell them that the water is "recycled"!

i guess i should admit my sin too.... i didn't take mine to the car wash... but today i told my sister that it was ok to take my dads 2000 caddie DTS. I have an explanation though... we just got back from a week long road trip to wyoming... and there were 2 inches of bugs on the front... i didn't want to deal with them... i know the car wash place will get them off... after that i'll do a full detail including swirl removal (even though its a light silver).

If I'm on vacation and the car gets dirty, should I take it to a "touchless car wash"? I'd be nervous about even taking it to a hand car wash, 'cause you don't know what kind of job they are going to do.

I got my car washed at the local Hooters in May of this year. They did a lousy job, but I really didn't care. They were all in daisy dukes and bikini tops which made having to rewash my car worth it. :up

I usually try to keep my hooters off the car :nono , but when I'm standing on the stepstool and reaching for the middle of the roof, it doesn't always turn out that way. ;)

(the devil made me write that)

the car was the funnest it got. The university ballroom dance team does a pretty good job too. Even if they are trim. It's a popular fund raiser around here.

I always make sure they use car wash soap.

Here's a nasty car wash story for you. Last winter I too sinned. I pulled into the wash stall and it immediately started squirting wax. Sealed in the dirt good. A mess to clean up when the weather got warmer.

Unfortunately sometimes they have to be used if it's too cold.

A vacation of course doesn't qualify. That must be unforgiveable -- somewhere.

they were going to post pics of hooters on cars?!?!?

:shocked :D :up :bounce :xyxthumbs :bow ;)

Actually, I have more than a few 'girls and wet t-shirts washing cars' pics...;)

BTW, the nice thing with Protect Alls wash is that I can usually find room to carry a small bottle with me, along with a bucket, wash pad, wheel brush and towels (along with some QD and window cleaner) and a couple of gallon containers with water so I can wash my car at the hotel when I am on trips. Sometimes I do have to run down to the local self serve wash and blast off the bugs though.

Yep, an unforgetable movie moment. And does anybody remember the name that George Kennedy (Dragline) gives to the lady washing the car?

Hint: same name as B. B. King's guitar
