I have a question about detailing trim

In the past, I used to detail my trim. It would always fade from the sun. I stopped and noticed the trim did not fade (hardly noticable). What do you guys use that wont fade the exterior trim?
 
Are you saying the trim fades when you apply a dressing but stays its original colour with no dressing?



The only thing I can think of is there might be some wax or something similar on the trim which is emulsified when a dressing is applied
 
I am talking about the exterior rubber/vinyl trim. It all eventually fades, but not as fast as when I have used 2001, black magic, or armoural. It turned my Honda trim a light gray from black. I used it on the rear and not the front (replaced from an accident) and you can definitely tell the difference.
