I have a chance to detail 6 big dump trucks, need some help.

Tractor Detailer
My uncle works for a paving company and he called me and asked me if I would wash their 6 black peterbuilt quad-axle dumps. He said the asphalt plant is paying for the cleaning, so I could charge what I wanted. I detail a smaller dump truck every month, and it is fairly simple, but these are much much bigger. My question is, what materials would I be needing other than normal detailing stuff? I only have to wash the truck and wax the cab part, and dress the tires. I was thinking of washing with some duragloss and a mitt on the cab, brush on paint/tires. Waxing with AIO/AW and dressing with some tire shine. Does that sound correct? What else would I be missing? What should I charge? I normally dont get the same kind of money in this area as some of yall do, but I was thinking in the neighborhood of $140 a truck? Does that sound like to much? It would probably take me up to 2hrs for each truck.

Let me know what you think.

You normal products should work but you should talk to the owner and hear what his expectations are. They might be covered with tar from the paving.

I haven't done any dump trucks myself but I did run into a detailer that does and he charges $250 but that includes basic cleaning inside. Vac,glass and wipe the dash. Might be worth getting a helper to cut the 2 hours per truck down. One working the outside and one on the inside?? Just a thought.

Hope this helps with pricing.

Bring plenty of WD40!!! I used to do road paving and when you get out of the truck to clean off the back of your trailer after dumping in the paver , your boots get the prime (sticky black gunk) on them. When you step on your aluminum steps to get back into the truck...guess where the prime sticks too. WD40 just melts it away...no rubbing, etc. Only other thing we used was diesel fuel...exact same results as WD40.

Hope they are in decent condition...some guys I used to work with were PIGS!! Didnt know how they could be in the truck all day looking the way the inside did!! They dont look big inside, but there are plenty of cracks and crevices that dust and dirt love to sit in!!
