I have a ButterWax question

The Whaler Loves Detail City
Tomorrow after I put a second coat of EX-P+ on my daughter's car I'm going to top it with ButterWax. If ButterWax is a wax(topper) then why is Nick and anyone else who is using ButterWax topping it with something else?

I'm not sure but I do know it was another wax. I'll do some research before tomorrow morning.

Rick,

Butter Wax is mostly carnauba. It can be used as a topper. If someone was topping it with something else, it's because they liked another carnauba better........ or it had more durability.

Yes I have Rick. When it first came out, Adam sent me his entire line of products for evaluation. My bottle of BW didn't even have a label on it. I understand that they made a number of changes to it since that time (about 1 1/2 ago).

I think I got my bottle in the fall of 2003 or the spring of 2004 . I found a thread where Nick topped the ButterWax with Natty's. I know I read where he was always topping ButterWax. Anyway tomorrow will be the first time I try it.

Rick,

I would top BW with Souveran or Trade Secret rather than Natty's. Souveran has more of a similar look. I would top EX or EX-P with Natty's........... of course, that's just me.

Rick, I top my BW with trade secret..why? coz I like the clarity of BW AND added wetness from TS :) (very different look from just BW or TS alone)

Butter Wax has polymers in it, but it isn't a sealant. I'm guessing you can top it to give an even better look. I found its very glossy and bright, following with wet/reflective Natty's will be sweet!

I tried it for the first time the past weekend on my Velocity Red(Metalic) Mazda.
It really is some easy stuff to use, and IMO , when used with the Adams Brilliant Glaze first, then Adams Butterwax, it showed a little more wetness than my previous EX and Natty topper combo.

I can't really compare the two, but Butterwax seems to give me decent life. My brother and I used it on one his girlfriend's (now fiance) Lexus IS300, and it's holding up pretty well. The weather here is/has been relatively fair. I think it's going on about a month and a half and it's still beading nicely and the last I got to use a detail spray on it I didn't get much drag onthe MF towel.

Ease of application...hmmm, well, they both are easy to apply, but I would give the nod to BW on removal...really a piece of cake and no dusting. Doesnt cause any havoc with plastic molding/trim.
Longevity...I don't know yet but will post once I find out. My car is garaged so I believe everything last longer as a result of that.
I will be putting another coat of BW on this week and see if building on the original application a week ago enhances appearance.

Get some...you wont go wrong !
