Pressure Washing Mafia
I don't consider myself a professional detailer by any means, but I do offer a wash and express detail service for some of my pressure washing customers on fridays.
I keep 2 rubber maid totes with products in them under the car port so when I leave on friday morning I just throw them in the bed of the truck, hook to the trailer and go.
It rained today so the 6 express details I had planned for today were cancelled.I haven't been out of the house much since rainy days give me a chance to do cold calling for pressure washing and catch up on office work.
The rain broke about 4pm so I went out to get some fresh air to find the lids off both totes and just about everything gone except for the stuff that was almost empty.Thankfully I keep the micro fiber towels in the cab of the truck or they would have got those also.
It's all stuff I can buy locally and can be replaced with 1 trip to the parts house, but dang it I hate for someone to steal from me.Get a freakin job and buy your own.
I still haven't figured out how the got past the attack beagle who was stationed just 10ft from where the totes sit. She's lost her job and is now serving duty in the pen while the chow/lab mix has been promoted to intruder eating.

P.S. On a positive note they did leave behind all the wash mitts, sponges and brushes and apparently didn't notice the shop vac sitting next to the totes. It's under lock and key now.

I was told once that the justification for a thief is, "I really want that item!!!" I have never been able fully appreciate it but beleive it all at the same time. To bad about the lost items. Yet, kudo's to you for seeing a positive thru all the negative that has happened to you.

I know the feeling all too well.... It was just a little over two years ago someone liked my detail trailer set-up more than me and just took the entire unit right out my driveway!!

They were, however, kind enough to leave me the cut lock though. :)

Sorry to hear that about your detail trailer.

Trailer theft has become a huge problem around our area lately.I had to invest in an axle/tire lock and a hitch lock,as well as,chaining our pressure washing rig to a tree.Everything loose on the trailer has a cable lock running through then to the frame to keep it from walking off.

A few weeks ago I ran 2 guys out of our back yard as they were trying to lift my riding mower over the chain link fence.I let the slide slam home on my pistol and annouced I had a gun and the scum headed for the hills. However,I don't think todays incident was a visit from them again.

Last week I did the rare express detail here at the house for a local teenager. He came to get the truck before I was done and told me several times he wanted to get the stuff to start doing the truck himself so he didn't have to pay me to do it again.I can't prove it was him,but I find it strange that he saw everything I had in the totes that day and now it's gone.

For me, equipment wise, it was a good thing... I had a "stated value" clause written into my insurance policy, so I ended up with having to purchase brand new stuff. I also ended up using some of the money for upgrades as well as spending a little out of pocket to go enclosed. Nothing, however, covered the three months of down-time, nor the loss of clients which I suffered battling with the insurance company who tried to nickel, dime and low-ball...

Wouldn't it be great if you could catch them and jump out from the side of the house and hit em up real good with the pressure washer maybe take some skin off. That would teach em. :rofl It really is ashame that people have to do this stuff. I agree go out and get your own!
