Below are the results of several hours of work spread over the last two days. This is a 2004 PT Cruiser with the 2.4L Turbo engine, same as in the SRT4, with the Stage 1 upgrade and a few other bits under the hood. It will be two years old on New Year's Eve and I think I take pretty decent care of it, even though I hadn't clayed it in over a year
No before shots as the car never really gets dirty, and the interior is up next, hopefully tomorrow. Maybe.
I used the following process on the exterior:
wash with Meg's GC
clay
Meg's #80 with Meg's yellow pad
Perfect Auto Finish Professional Paint Sealant x2 with DAS blue pad
Perfect Auto Finish Chrome Cleaner/Sealant on the wheels and chrome bits
Meg's APC 4:1 to clean the engine bay
Meg's HyperDressing 2:1 for the engine dressing, tires, exterior trim
ArmorAll in the wheel wells
(NOTE: Perfect Auto Finish is Gary Kouba's (turbomangt on this and other forums) shop outside Chicago and he sells many of the products he uses professionally. I don't know where he gets this stuff from, but I like it and it works great, plus his prices are great. I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.)
I love this reflection shot!
Yes, the engine got a good cleaning too!
And a nice little closeup to show the flake and wetness of the finish.
