I feel sorry for you guys...

that arent using a foam gun when you wash :D

I know last year foam guns were all the rage but I havent seen much on them this year. I love my foam gun and never realized just how useful it is until recently. Presoaking the car with a thick layer of foam makes washing and removing stubborn dirt a breeze.

I don't think I could ever go back to not having a foam gun. Anyone else been a foam gun convert this year or is it just the holdovers from last year?

I saw a Gilmour GB elesewhere for $50.00, but found it cheaper on eBay...I just picked up a Gilmour there for $30.00.

I agree it's the freakin' bomb-diggity.

No washbuckets to carry, fill, or move, plus less bending and stooping. However, if the car is really dirty, I will use a rinse bucket for my mitts. Otherwise, it's foam gun in the left hand...Sheepskin mitt in the right.

I can wash, rinse and dry my RX 300 (Except the wheels/tires) in under 20 minutes.

It really makes carwashing a less inelegant task.

From people who use it to wash in 20 minutes to people who use it to wash in 3 hours, I don't think anybody has been sorry they got a Gilmour foam gun.

If anybody *does* regret buying one, there are probably plenty of people who'd buy a used one.

I use the foam gun for pre soaking and the actual washing. Nothing like that constant stream of soapy mix creating a barrier between the contaminants ,to be very gently whisked away by the mitt, and the finish :up However, for me, this does not equate to a fast wash. I buy Accumulator's philosophy of striving for a painstaking washing process in effort to further minimize the chance of marring. This isn't ordinarily quick. The foam gun can still be used with speed in mind though.

I rarely even use wash buckets. I just switch over to a new mitt entirely frequently. I have the mitts marked inside indicating which area of the car they are designated for. I just use one pail to carry the clean mitts to the car and another pail to hold the used mitts. After that they are washed and dried.

David, that definitely looks like a new product worth investigating. It appears to be a compartmentalized and streamlined concept of the idea of our foam guns. I believe I saw that one on Autopia Car Care and Better Car Care. I can see real added value to the product if it can handle the quantity of solution one would use in the washing approach that Accumulator and I use. It wasn't clear to me how much it can hold.

EDIT: never mind about the amount, I see on BCC that it holds 6oz and dilutes the soap as it's used. In my case, that would probably not be enough. ( because I have a constant stream of solution flowing while I'm washing)

I guess you could call what I'm using a foam gun... I got hooked on the SoapJet. This little think is awesome!

thanks David for bringing up what looks like a terrific little product!

Watched the video and like the idea. Will have to do more research on other foam guns, but I think that this is something that wants to be in my detailing arsenal.

What are you using?

I'm using the Butcher, David. I posted a source to them last year from a janitorial place here local. I never realized how great the gun was until the whole presoak, clingy foam thing helped me get through some really nasty vehicles without a lot of elbow grease.

I'm 100% sold on my foam gun.. its a 100% necessity in my detailing arsenal.

I do have a question about all of these soap guns. Can you put you own wash in them? So i can put my Zaino car wash solution into one of these units, or do you have to use their stuff?

These are simply siphon devices so you can use any car wash chemical in them. Some are more sudsy than others, which will effect how much foam the gun makes.

Spilchy: Does yours have adjustable concentration? Is it all plastic like that one in the picture?

BigTinVa- That looks sorta like a big-bottle version of the one that Spilchy linked to. Probably better suited to the presoak application than the gun in one hand mitt in the other method.
