I Don't Need A Good Job!

I don't really understand why someone would say that. Why not just clean it themselves if they aren't looking for professional service?
 
The problem is many times its the consumer who creates poor work. The ones who constantly try to drive down the price and request lesser than a company's standard. It just leaves room for hacks to jump in at cut rate prices. Then they are the same to complain about the quality of work they received.

Unfortunately it goes on in restoration too.

I don't think many realize that service work does not have the same markup or margin as retail goods. This is why Groupon and the like do not really work for detailers.

Yup! I'm not willing to compromise my standards for a price shopper. There are plenty of cheaper options out there for those clients.
 
I agree completely with this. That being said, I still sell a lot of lower price details, but make sure that the things that I do in those packages, I do with excellence.



The key is that if you do offer lower priced services, make sure that they are within your margin for profits, and that the customer knows what they are getting, and what they are NOT getting.
 
I completely agree. Usually these clients I end up not doing work for. I know how much my skill and time is worth, and what level of service I offer. At times it is better to give the blessing to some other 'valet' detailer because the work they are seeking for, is not of your standards. There were a few inquiries in the past where I had to pass up the half assed requests of services to be done. Groupon and discounts like that doesn't do much for us either, if anything at all.

Had a girl in the shop today that said this. Typically said by customers trying to make the job fit the amount of money they want to spend.
